Beat Summon Night, playing FFTA2 now. Signed up for that backloggery thing but I can't for the life of me figure out how to post a tag or whatever.

I know but the min/max in me wouldn't settle for at least like 20-ish points and I wanted a single character over 30 (settled on 30). Getting 26-29 took no effort.

I wouldn't have noticed if not for my second created character netting 19 points and my first was 6. Was a total "wait, why am I allocating so many more points what the fuck."
Also, I exaggerate the amount of reload (well, cancel reenlist) as it took me like 2 hours to get like 12+ units with 24-29 BP and 1 30 BP score.
Male Drake Neutral Warrior -> Samurai
Female Drake Neutral Warrior -> Valkyrie
Female Halfling Evil Thief -> Kunoichi?!
Male Diablon Evil Wizard -> Devout -> Psychicer probablymaybe
Male Felpier Neutral Ranger -> Ranger most likely, Psychicer maybe?!
Female Celestian Evil Devout -> Cleric -> LongRange Valkyrie maybe?!

My back-row is all "wtf am I doing" so unsure really; I really want to keep Devouts for the MP Stroll though. Psychicer can Snipe from back-rows with any weapon which makes them better(?) than a Ranger. But, Barrier is awesome and I don't want to use Psychichers and end up spamming that a lot :(

I might re-roll the Halfling to a Felpier or something else with a better sprite if I decide on front rowing a Kunoichi. I may just field a double Valkyrie front-row though, but that'll require some alignment flopping to get to Neutral for Valkyrie. Whatever ... :(

I really, really, really wanted to go Human on the Samurai (lolzScy) but the min/max in me couldn't pass up the awesome front-row stats on Drake. Plus he looked cooler and I wanted the better affinity between him and the female Drake Valkyrie.

http://kotaku.com/5349422/first-dsi+onl ... tinct-look

The DSipocalypse has arrived. Let's see people try to deny that the DSi is Nintendo's next handheld platform now. I've been calling this for a while over on the pokemon forums on GameFAQs (I really need to stop going there, their ideas for 'improving' pokemon frequently = *headdesk*) saying that the 5th gen pokemon games are going to be DSi-exclusive and likely releasing fall 2011. Also putting money on the games being named Topaz and Amethyst with Whitegold being the third game to come later, and having some form of 3rd-gen remake in 2013, but thats unrelated.

Now, hopefully DSi-exclusive games will take advantage of the built-in memory/SD card slot and have save files for the games. And DLC. Even though it'd mean paying money for extra pokemon, I wouldn't mind seeing the event pokemon they keep holding back show up in DLC packs. Or maybe use the camera to scan codes like one of the Idolmaster games did. And how about letting games access any music you have saved to play in-game?

Oh yeah, and taking advantage of the higher processor speed/RAM would be nice too I guess.

Also, I never bothered rerolling that much when I made my characters. I settled for something in the 16+ range. Current party consists of, I believe, a gnome thief, a human warrior, a drake valkyrie, a celestian cleric, a pixie wizard, and an elf ranger. Think I got those races right.

Be careful when switching majors. Different majors have different max. spells in each of the categories, and if you don't pick which spells to keep before switching, it'll be selected randomly.

Taking your wizard through two or more different majors is a good way to get lots of different spells.

Psychicers don't snipe, they just ignore weapon range. Focusing (or whatever it's called) is a Ranger skill.

Changing alignment is easy. Sometimes enemies don't attack immediately on a random encounter, but only watch. You then get the option to attack, watch or leave. Attack shifts you toward Evil, watch toward Neutral, and leave towards Good. Do that a few times and the principal will be able to change your character's alignment. Of course, if you leave an enemy they might attack you anyway..

I haven't tried it myself, but I've seen it said that Barrier is a bit of a game-breaker. I'm not so sure though. Quite often enemies will use spells that hit everyone for low damage, which seems it would be effective against Barrier.

I found Evoker to be a fun and useful major too. The higher level summons hit about as hard as your regular characters, they can use all kinds of spells, and can shield others.

I haven't really noticed Affinity playing a role.

What are your characters' names? Did you make up personalities for them too?

A gnome? Would that be a dwarf, a halfling or an erdgeist? Pixies are a type of enemy. You probably meant a sprite.

I haven't done much in the game aside from make the characters and check out the newbie road labyrinth to get a feel for it. When I get back to the game (probably after finishing these last two DS games) I'll probably get back to it and see about getting a character for each major. I'll probably end up thinking up personalities when I do. It feels silly, but I've done it in Etrian Odyssey to the point of having entire stories floating around in my head. At this point, though, I'd have to turn the game on just to get their names.

Apparently affinity can play a really big role to the point of potentially doubling your stats or something. I'm still more or less clueless on that end though...

Edit: Gah...that'd be a halfling then.

I know about the spells and forgetting what you don't want to keep; most the spells are pretty useless though so not a big deal to only keep 3 spells or so.

Psychichers do Snipe, it's the name of their Level 7 skill (well, Sniper) ... which, yes, does ignore Weapon Range. Didn't mean a powered-up Bow Shot or something. Coupled with True Double Fist at 65, it's arguably comparable to Ranger damage when you're DWing Two Handers. At least, I'd imagine it would. Only time will tell on that one, I suppose.

I know about the -1 / 0 / +1 options on the "WE ARE WATCHING YOU" enemies but I just don't want to to mess with it if I don't have to, that's all ^^.

Barrier stacks and I don't see how a low damage AoE would be effective against it; sure, yeah, it chews through it faster than a single hit but that also means they didn't blow through it with a giant single-target hit. Effectively the same outcome in damage prevention. I will say I like the Barrier option more than Paladin Covering every turn. Plus, Barrier works on magic damage.

And yeah, I thought of Evoker for my Wizard route, though, again, not sure what class to end in. Psychicher for Barrier? Devout for MP Stroll? Evoker class skills aren't that great (because there's ONE) and Psychicher at least lets them melee from the back row.

Maxed affinity is a 25% boost I believe to stats. Not OMGWOW significant, especially since I have a single Diabolon anyway (who has low Affinity with other races T.T).
Male Drake Neutral Warrior -> Scy
Female Drake Neutral Warrior -> Rin
Female Halfling Evil Thief -> Zarise
Male Diablon Evil Wizard -> Shugo
Male Felpier Neutral Ranger -> Saizen
Female Celestian Evil Devout -> Amiya

Personalities ... not really. Just pairs (Scy/Rin, Shugo/Zarise, Saizen/Amiya) but these are really just the names I always use for like MMOs and stuff.
No, forgetting a few spells isn't too hard. It's just that it's easy to forget to do it before switching majors :?

Cover and Barrier aren't really necessary. Sure, it makes the game a little easier if you spam those over and over, but I think it's more fun just to play with the characters you like.

Speaking of doing things over and over, you can choose Attack for everyone quickly by holding down on the joystick and pressing ×. The alternative is to go through all six characters consecutively, which is relatively bothersome. You'll have to though if you want to use magic or skills.

I wouldn't count on the level 50+ skills. I'm in post-game dungeons now at level 40-44.
