It is really, really good. Feels like at any moment the game will burst with energy. Do not want to give an opinion yet but it could be the best classic Castlevania in the series. Yes. I am implying it could trump Super Castlevania IV. It lacks directional whip control, sure, but it has item crashes, character selection, evasive techniques and while it can be difficult it is also fair. Did I mention it has seven hidden routes that more or less double the play value? If I compare it to my previous Castlevania download (Adventure ReBirth), it seems worlds better. Sometimes there is what one would call Nintendo Hard. Difficulty that is more akin to walking through a dark room full of bear-traps instead of difficulty that requires quick learning and reflexes. Sure Richter has died a few times but if I played it smarter that would not have happened.

FFXIII Upgrade System ... so easy to abuse. Buy cheap mats, use mats in multiples for +Multiplier (3x = 36 Sturdy Bone/Barbed Tail/Vibrant Ooze), use quality mats in bulk (nothing good to buy yet though for this; best EXP:Gil ratio I could find was like 36% [Paraffin Oil 72 EXP per 200 Gil]).
For the curious:
Multiplier Value:
0-50 = 1x EXP
51-100 = 1.25x EXP
101 -200 = 1.5x EXP
201 - 250 = 1.75x EXP
251 - 500 = 2.0x EXP
501+ = 3.0x EXP
And the items I listed are +14 per item (so 36 of them is 504 points); there will probably be a new tier of them eventually (+21 probably) and those will only take 24 of them to reach the 3.0x threshold.
Also, Gil is ridiculously easy to get at least by late Chapter 9; almost every 5-star fight nets ~3000 Gil in Credit/Incentive Chips. Most of the non-Reaver fights are snore-fest to 5-star too. Guess I'll spend an hour-ish to farm up to 100k Gil before moving on.
Edit: And by hour-ish I guess I meant two fights >>
