Not going to dance around it: Rondo of Blood is the best traditional Castlevania. I know I have already posted like four times but the more I play, the better it gets. Ignoring the fact that they are different games, I would say I like this more than Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow. Not ready to compare it to Symphony of the Night when it has been so long, but I will be downloading it for my X-Box 360 soon so I will have an opinion on it then. As for Order of Ecclesia... it is hard to say. I really liked the story and found it had the same sort of challenge to it: difficult, but fair. Both games have bosses that feel different and offer unique challenges. Order of Ecclesia is a completely different game so it is silly to compare the two.
I must say I do not see how Maria is considered the easier character, aside from her ability to double jump and avoid hazards. She has more mobility than Richter yeah but that is because she spends much more time running away. The nature of the Vampire Slayer/Killer is reliable and unlimited. Maria can throw two doves and has to wait for one to come back before she can throw another. What is more is that the position of the doves are always relative to Maria, so running away after throwing one will just bring it closer... or running forward in turn will bring it further out. I find that unless a boss is stunned on hit this means Maria will be running away before she can hope to score additional hits. There is also the fact that Richter has twice the stamina of Maria. Regardless they can both cheese bosses equally well though I find Richter's sub-weapons produce quicker results. All in all I prefer Maria's more mobile style of play. Perhaps Richter does not seem like hard mode because I am a hardened Castlevania veteran.
Keep in mind this is not like Richter Mode in Portrait of Ruin. There Maria is clearly 100x better than any playable character. Even the sisters.

Careful there, Maverynthia. VapourTrail and Scy and Negzee can get nasty to you if you say something too negative about Final Fantasy. Scy in particular likes to argue even if just for the sake of arguing.

It's a lot of the same crap >> but that's why people keep playing, isn't it? You almost can't win; if you stay on the same path and improve it you get ridiculed for being the same over and over, and if you try something different it's "why fix something that's not broken?" Not to say that some games aren't indeed crap...8D
