Thanks for the insight, Scy. This was my first DQ since the very first one oh so long ago. Had I known more about the general premise I would have skipped it outright.

"Bland" might be the perfect word for it.

Anyway, some big positives also came to mind since my last post:
* visible enemies
* some camera rotation control in towns and dungeons
* the plot reminder feature assigned to the Y button

I still think EO has the best progress indicator of all, of course!

Plot reminders're always appreciated xD.

By the way, these're the games I'm currently playing:

*Rondo of Swords (this's the 3rd time i'm finishing it xD)
*Etrian 1 (resuming)
*Knights in the Nightmare (trying to survive in hard mode =D)

And yes, every single one's from Atlus... I just wonder why =3.

Atlus only developed one of those games. The other two they just translated.

I lost my copy of Rondo of Swords </3

Seriously, BlazBlue story writers must've really liked Higurashi.

Also, Teach Me [s]Boobie Lady[/s]Ms. Litchi is probably the best part of the story of the game. Again.

Edit: I retract that. The new comedy endings are hilarious too~ At least, Ragna's so far is.

"Yup, as dead as disco."
Dead Nu is adorable ... though, did they valley girl her?

"Ragna, you can't be that dense! There be great treasure on that barge, matey! I mean, Ragna and Nu should, like, go steal it and some junk."

Edit2: Actually, nevermind:

"And second...Nu, for the love of god, the valley or the sea...just pick one."

Also:

"OK! Everyone, just stop crying. And Carl...I know you can't stop crying, so just try to bring it down a notch, OK?"

And then Ragna gets traded for some tuna. And Jin is creepy. I think they turned up the "I WANT TO PLOW RAGNA" Jin vibes.

...

GOOD END.

Wait, what...
Oh god.

"And I heard that you lust after your own brother!"
"You got it all wrong! I'm into young gir--Wait! That's wrong, too!"

...how is this not part of the Gag Reel ending?

EditAgain: Why are all the Rachel x Ragna moments in BAD ENDs?

Also:

"If you're one of those nutbars who's all 'I don't need help' or 'I only want to unlock hidden stuff' or 'I'll just look for a flowchart online,' then you can piss off."

Help Me, Professor Kokonoe!! is lolz too. What with all the 4th Wall breaking and all.

"Damn, you're an idiot. You know, in a game like this, it's kind of important to the plot to listen to people's warnings."
"Really?"
...
"Good. Don't come here anymore. Honestly, your story is pretty straightforward. I'm not really sure how you managed to cock it up, but just stay focused this time and it should be gravy. Oh, right, you don't have to lose on purpose to get 100% completion. I guess that really pissed people off last time. Well, OK, full disclosure: There are some story paths for certain characters that won't open up unless you die, that's it. Promise.

...What? Too much exposition? Bite me. It's the first episode. We have to get some of the stuff out of the way. Geez..."
...I lost on purpose to get this ending >>
Kokonoe for playable character soon prz.

Arc Rise Fantasia is a horrible game. I would probably be able to complete it if it did not have the worst voice acting I have ever heard in my entire life. At least on a piece of published media. The localization team, and the folks who decided on the cast, should be ashamed of themselves.

Finally got the gall to start playing Arc Rise Fantasia again. I was able to erase the sound of their voices and the bad plot from my mind. I will now play it on a fresh file, and pretend it's a Playstation era RPG.

Playing Labyrinth of Touhou. I just got Yuugi (a fairly easy battle; you just need to blast her with magic before she kills everyone), and now I'm exploring the 7th floor.

Oh, and I just killed Nitori in a random battle or something.

Woah, wait, Labyrinth of Touhou is a real game?
I thought it was just some kind of prank.

Guess I've gotta search for it. sounds really cool.
