Oy, no more Summon Night RPGs, that's sad news.

What?? Seriously?

I just played this game for the first time and I'd never even heard of the series before, and I love it ;_; I can't believe they've flickered out already

Already? They've been around for a long time (~'93, though Black/Matrix was '98 and Summon Night was '00). Their last few games didn't do so well so it isn't a huge surprise on one hand. Not that we even got them here.

Besides, the Summon Night team founded a new company already anyway and have a game due out this September (Blue Roses).
Considering that Summon Night X came out in November, Gran-These was March (though in development since, what, 2005? 2006?) and Blue Roses is due this September ... I'm willing to bet most jumped ship after SNX tanked and Flight-Plan was just "sort of there" to push Gran-These out to be DoA.
Things did seem shaky after the Swordcraft Story games.

Speaking of companies looking shaky, Nippon Ichi still bleeding money and just cancelled three games (costing them ~¥21 million or ~$245,000).
Though, "only" $245k on three games isn't a huge deal at all so it's probably some of their low budget titles but still. Then again, it is N1 here so $245k isn't a small amount for them I suppose.

Maybe they realized part of their financial trouble stems from porting games over and over and releasing otherwise shitty games when it's not Disgaea. Their last fiscal year was terrible >> They need more of their flagship titles more often and stop publishing garbage (Last Rebellion says hi).
Edit: I only bring it up with the confusion of, "So wait, they're still pushing out that girl punishing game?"

Noodles - Is SN:ScS 2 the only Summon Night game you've played? Swordcraft Story 1 (GBA) and Twin Age (DS) are also very good.

I hope NIS Japan's financial troubles don't affect NIS America too much. They just got into the anime business this year.

And off to a terrible start, at that >>

What with the first batch having video defects and all.

Honestly, NISA has enough problems of their own. They really need a new QA team. If they even have one to begin with.
It's worth noting that the N1 decline is in profits, not that they're in the red. It's more of a sign of "stop releasing garbage" than "SHIP IS SINKING GET THE FUCK OUT."
Well, that video defect was only in part of the first batch, and only some people notice that it's there. Plus, NISA were very prompt in offering replacement of the defective discs.
So, calling their start 'terrible' is rather exaggerating.

Etrian Odyssey II(5th stratum)
Dragon Quest IX

Might consider replaying:
Luminous Arc 2
Summon Night: Twin Age.
Their healing arts help support the party.

Meh, I don't do the protecter/beast thing... Makes your party too strong...
(Then again, that's coming from a hypocrite that has a hexer and revenge maxed... Hmm...) I just never found the need so far to protect anything, if you kill the enemies fast you don't need defence...

BUT this is a topic about other games, and I am also going for 100% on TWEWY... Someone please put me out of my misery...? Please? IT'S HELL.
