Classic Controller Pro is much better than its predecessor. When I look at the vanilla Classic Controller, I am left to wonder what they were thinking.

Shit, the black one? I haven't touched one yet. Good to hear it's better. But I hope there's improvement is beyond just the grips

It has to be better; the original was a piece of shit >>
To be fair, the new one isn't that great either. I actually prefer my 360 controller as my go-to PC controller.
Edit: Except for the fucking D-Pad on it. I really need to buy the new 360 controller and give it a try.
I always hated that xbox d-pad. It's slippery and fucking sucks in fighting games where LEFT is different from DOWN-LEFT. It's almost as bad as a joystick. That is, the controller joystick, not a fightstick.

I am not overly fond of the X-Box controller, either. I want to say the GCN controller is my favourite, but the triggers are absolutely terrible unless you mod it.

My favorite controller is definitely the PS2 controller. I totally forget that that controller is in my hand.

Fighting Games without a stick makes me giggle a little.
Walmart had (has?) the SE SF4 stick + SF4 for like $30. $16, technically, since you can return SF4. It's all of ~$40 to mod it to Sanwa parts I believe, maybe less.

I got the Tekken 6 bundle with the Hori stick for $60. First time I've actually used one outside of arcades. It's pretty cool.
I think I actually prefer it with 2D fighters though. I don't know how to explain that. Half the time I still play Tekken 6 with the d-pad since it's the only way I've played fighting games my whole life.

Wasn't the Tekken stick the shitty Wireless one? I mean, it's not bad per se (about the SF4 SE quality?) but the extra input lag from the wireless was just bad news.

Yes, it is wireless.
