aw no wait, i don't think it was the stratum boss. It was like "imprisoned ones" or something.

Four Heroes of Light is a phenomenal game, time and time again. So very charming.

Finally beaten EOIII after long periods of not touching it. Too bad there isn't a text script available I believe, would rather not delete all of my data just to see what everyone says when you're a rookie again.
Might be getting Tactics Ogre or Half-Minute Hero next.

Spent a while today getting through the 5th Stratum of EOII.
I have also been playing a bit of Neverland Card Battles over the last few days. I love how, unlike most other SRPGs I've played, you actually need to use a lot of strategy and you can't just overwhelm the opponent with brute force, since they pretty much always have you massively out-gunned.
Despite really liking it, I put the game down years ago after I got sick of fighting Sheriela over and over again trying to get her Healing of Divine Maiden or whatever it was called, her ridiculously overpowered card that heals 1 unit by 6HP. I ended up fighting her ~60 times and never got it.
I want to actually beat the game this time as well as get 100% card completion. I am having a problem now however. My Healer/Bandor + Doll of Living Being combo doesn't seem to work anymore... I could have sworn I used it all the time before, and it is the only reason I could see for having DoLBs in my deck, but now they just get res'd without their effects triggering.
I've picked Dungeon Maker II back up as well, and now that I actually understand some of the mechanics, I have dramatically increased the depth/ratings for all my floors. However, after redesigning all my existing floors and building the next few, the game has started to get a bit boring again. I love the game, I just wish combat was more engaging. It has to be the most boring combat I've ever seen in an action RPG.

So what exactly is Four Heroes of Light? It looks pretty neat, but I don't have a very clear view of how it works.

It's reminiscent of old Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy games, with a job system you can mess around with whenever you want.
The biggest complaint I hear is that you actually half to grind, because usually when you get to the end of a dungeon you are simply not tough enough for the boss. But the praise outweighs the complaints.

Uh...fine, maybe good depending on your tastes and/or enjoyment of traditional RPG, ARPG, or SRPG? Honestly not sure what point you're trying to make there.
Yes I realize 4 Warriors came out ages ago (10/5/10, I believe, for the US) but I assumed it was a "thinking about playing it now but no idea what it is" post. Right now there's a fairly good amount of RPGs that came out recently (Radiant Historia, Tactics Ogre, Pokemon Black/White in like three days) or coming out soon (3rd Birthday, TitS), and, personally, it doesn't stand up very well to them.
*shrugs*
Admittedly, I had to plug Xenogears even if it's just a PSN port >>
