I'd give more of the "Way to go" to Sony for starting the program; without it, I sincerely doubt Capcom would've done anything for Monster Hunter here.

Edit: I forgot this too:

Honestly, seems far more like an attempt to grab some more sales from the west. It's not like Japan really cares that much for the PS3. Time will tell, I suppose.

That said...

Picked up System Shock 2 for 50 cents, along with Duke Nukem 3D, Desperados, Alliance for Quake III, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, all for PC. Really slim pickings, but those are the only games that looked playable. (We saw some redneck group garage sale on our way in and that's all their was. My friend got a few good PS2 games, but I don't have a PS2... Yet...)

Played a bunch more Warriors Orochi 2. In a nutshell; I maxed all abilities, got all the treasures, did a bunch of Dream Mode and finished a few of the campaigns on all difficulties. In the process of doing that, I got some more characters to Lv 99 – Pro 50. I also got perfect weapon builds on Orochi and Sun Wukong and perfect Element builds, with Upgrade Skills still a WIP, on a dozen or so other characters.

I’ve always loved this game, but now I do have a bit of bone to pick with it. After seeing firsthand how stupidly, loltasticly powerful Almighty is, now I need to have 2 perfect weapons for each character; one with Almighy, for perfection’s sake, and one without it to actually use.

Random Dissida 012 Rantings: (spoilered for length)
Lately I’ve gone a little crazy with Dissidia 012. I chose not to transfer my characters over, wanting to re-learn them gradually, rather than be dumped into the deep end with a perfect character, so I had to grind everyone back up to Lv 100 and re-master their abilities.

Despite most characters being almost identical to their counterparts in the first game from what I’ve seen, I love some of the new skills. I really like Ground Dash, as it lets you have more versatility.

My favourite addition to the game (including the new characters) is Precision Evasion. Precision Block isn’t really worth the risk involved, but Precision Evasion has saved my ass quite a few times. 45 CP is a lot, and, no matter how good your timing is you can’t pull it off 100% of the time, but I still think it’s definitely worth it. Seriously, I <3 <3 <3 this awesome skill. [hide]<3[/hide]

So far, my impressions on the new characters are as follows:

Lightning: Haven’t used her too much, but I like how they implemented Paradigm Shifting (much better than in FFXIII itself), and, though I am still questioning the usefulness of her Medic moves, she is definitely a pretty good character. Waterga is great, especially when they get deflected back at you, so you can get more than one out at once.

Vaan: I never played FFXII, but I love this guy. He is in my main party at the moment. I love the whole concept behind his weapon switching. The Crossbow was great for a while, but better opponents will just block it most of the time, since it comes out so slow. His HP game is actually pretty damn good, considering how few HP attacks he actually has (Windburst FTW).

Yuna: Barely used her outside of when the story forced her upon me. None of her attacks stood out to me as particularly special and her stats are nothing out of the ordinary.

Laguna: An interesting character choice Square Enix made here, but a good one as far as I’m concerned. I haven’t used him that much yet but, even though I kind of suck with him, I find him really fun to play as. I love his Machine Gun and, once he has levelled up a bit, his HP game is surprisingly good.

Kain: Kain is probably my second favourite of the new characters, under Vaan. Whilst he’s not as godly as Zidane, he is still an excellent aerial specialist. He’s fast, versatile, and has an excellent HP game. Most of his HP attacks come out fast and many have great priority.

Tifa: To sum up my thoughts when I found out Tifa was in Duodecim “Great, they decide to put another character from FFVII in and it’s this idiot”. I always hated Tifa. Gameplay wise, her feints are pretty good, as is Blizzara/ga. Her reach is too short though, without something else to offset it. She also has a horrible HP game. Seriously bad, at least at lower levels. I’ve never used her against anything resembling a threat, but I don’t see her getting a HP hit on an opponent skilled at dodging without getting really lucky, blocking, or pulling off some tricky shit with an Assist. I’ve only ever taken HP damage when fighting Tifa from Chase Attacks (I don’t know why, but I often dodge early even when I know for a fact a HP attack is coming. It’s a bad habit I had in the first game, and I still can’t seem to shake it) or Assists. Hell, most of her HP attacks come out so slow that I can still get away even if she blocks me.

Prishe: I’ve only used her a couple of times, but from what I’ve seen from fighting her she is pretty damn good and I will eventually get around to investing more time in her.

Gilgamesh: Worst character in the game. He is way too inconsistent to be functional (random damage and range… seriously? wtf?) and his HP game is pretty lame too, since a lot of his HP attacks leave him way too open, considering how easy they are to avoid.

Feral Chaos: I haven’t actually got around to using him yet. I glanced into his custom screen when I unlocked him, and lol’d a bit at even the staple skills costing so much CP. From what I can gather from the fights against him in Scenario 000 though, his attacks are excellent but he is way too big and slow. I found the final fight quite disappointing actually. It was both epic and fun, yes, but way too easy. I was expecting difficulty at least on par with IC Chaos from the first game. Regardless, I expect he will be pretty fun to play as, if I can actually afford to equip any skills on him XD.

The world map is kind of lame, but it sure beats the old system. I also think the ability to export –> import your own ghosts to fight is awesome. I Really like the assist system too. I didn't like it much at first, but it's really grown on me. I mostly only use it to help me land a HP attack, or for Assist Changes, but it's still very helpful.
I also decided to attempt, once again, to finish Ura Kaiten Patissier, which I haven’t played for years. However, it seems that I forgot to copy it over from my old computer, so I guess I get to start again XD.

The game is just so fucking fun and addictive. I can’t believe it’s free. I think the difficulty gap between Ura and it’s predecessor is a little odd though.

For those who don’t know, Kaiten Patissier is a freeware doujin puzzle game developed by Alpha Secret Base. It is interesting and fun; but really, really easy.

The sequel, Ura Kaiten Patissier, has pretty much identical gameplay but gets extremely hard pretty early in. Ura is the only video game in which a puzzle has completely stumped me. The cool thing is, you’ll often figure how to progress, but then the game proceeds to smack you up the back of the head, for having the gall to think you were smart, by halting you in your tracks with even more confusingly difficult obstacles to overcome as soon as you take a few steps.

I’m struggling to even get back up to were I was before. I just wish more singleplayer puzzle games took this approach.

Vaan. Concentrated Evil, but effective.

Golbez all day.

Though most of my time on Duodecim was spent trying to learn Prishe.

Also, I loved Kaiten Patissier.

I passed on Duodecim so ... how is Paradigm Shifting implemented? It's practically flawless in FFXIII; fast, easy, and effective.

Also, boothisman.gif for Tifa hate. Only part of the cast (well, Yuffie too ... oddly) that I could stand personally. But I never really thought of FFVII as anything besides average.

Anyway:

I forget what buttons it was, but you change paradigms at will and it changes your move set, so you give her 3 sets of moves. Medic paradigm recovers bravery.

I was mad that Sazh didn't make the cut.

...so basically XIII's system. Except on a button as opposed to a menu, though a button wouldn't have worked for XIII anyway (unless it was to cycle ... which would've just been bad).
