It takes some practice, it might also just be that none of the characters in the demo quite click for you.

Playing Dubloon, freeware RPG. It's in the same vein as Earthbound, and it's really simple; You can just use the mouse for one.

Theres a how to play on the main menu. What precisely confused you? Make characters, enter dungeon, don't suck. That's basically how Wizardry works. Make sure you buy a map and use it (square) constantly and a Bishop for appraising is awesome to have.
Also, the max bonus roll you can get is 47. I'd suggest rerolling for 20+, though you'll need 40 or 47 to unlock Lord or Ninja for every race.
Without unlocking Samurai, Lord, or Ninja, 2 Fighters, one thief and one of each casters is a fine group. Keep in mind Good and Evil cannot group together without loopholes (searching for friends inside the dungeon let's you put Good and Evil in the same group).

Don't like this randomized bonus roll crap, not so much in concept as it's just annoying in practice, all it amounts to is making me go back and forth between the class select screen until it gives me good numbers.
Oshit rolled a 47.
I don't know what class to use though, I picked a Porklu because they seemed cool.

Bishops are made of what though, toothpicks? Dwarven Priest + shield + mace in the front row was doing pretty good for me, then I got enough points to class change to Lord, haven't looked back since (though still only at, oh, level 8 or so right now, Shiin's Dungeon 3F-4Fish).
Level design is totally old school but I'd kinda prefer a more inspired design that isn't locked into a 64x64 square grid or whatever size that thing is. Also, loli dwarf voice is starting to drive me nuts. What kind of proud axe-wielding dwarf shouts "nipaa~♥" as she swings her colossal weapon into a swath of evil undead minions? Seriously. In EO, it's fine, in 7D, it's fine, but come on, this is Wizardry!
Downloaded LBP and Wipeout HD from the PSN welcome back thing, but tbh I'd much rather be playing Wizardry right now...
Porklu (ポークル ... pokkle?) - more like hobbit amirite
