Yes, it's for Starcraft 2. The NASL (North American Star League) finals are going on right now with MC (Obamatoss) vs Puma (oh god just a dream). $50k for the winner, $25k for second place.

Edit: And HuK is the Canadian Protoss god.

NASL is pretty shitty but more big money tournaments is always a good thing. Hopefully it's less herpderp dumb come next season.

Oh, definitely. This is exactly what North America needs to get people to care about eSports. StarCraft II could very well be the best we have seen in the way of eSports, as far as support is concerned. We have come a long way, as foreigners... nearly every big team has a designated house, millions of dollars in prize money being handed out over the course of the year through just SC2 alone, and more companies than ever signing players for partnerships. What is more is that you look at big name casters like Husky who have over 500k subscribers watching StarCraft II, and the majority of them (myself included) do not even play the game.

I think the fact I never, ever cared for Steelseries until Grubby told me to, says a lot considering how I usually do not even pay any mind to sponsors otherwise. It means that companies are actually benefiting a lot from supporting eSports. I don't know... suppose I just feel a little bit giddy when I think what it was like watching CS scrims or WarCraft III matches less than a decade ago, and it was rare to find anyone else who even cared. Now I am seeing IdrA sprays when I play TF2 and overhearing people talking about what their favourite player did in this or that awesome match.
