4 Heroes of Light is a very cool little game, but I'd have to say I liked DragonQuest 9 better by a little bit.

As for 4 Heroes of Light, the 4 different storylines that all meet up later in the game are very interesting, and the style of the game is really neat, especially in towns and such where the world curves around like a globe, as opposed to just being "flat".
The battle system is very simple, perhaps to the point of being overly-simplified, but it doesn't ruin the game, and it is an interesting solution to do away with a limit on using skills repeatedly.

DragonQuest 9 is my favorite, because the whole angel theme is really captivating, and also I'm a sucker for character customization. The game also has a lot of puns in the names of everything, which is funny in english, but when I re-played it in French, made it really confusing... Anyways the battle system is pretty standard issue, but the classes are neat. Also, "grotto grinding", as it's called, increases the re-play value a lot, I spent easily as much time hunting out maps and grottos as I did playing the story.

GoOdy would be the best SC2 player if he had 400 APM.

Re: IPL 08/11/11
ThorZain winning, yes and yes. He plays very well, he is a smart kid and he deserves it. I feel like he could really broaden his play style a bit, especially against Protoss. Consider nukes.
IdrA losing three matches in a row... not even going to talk about it. IdrA's worst enemy is himself.
White-Ra is just too much of a braincage for even an observing man of Strelok's calibre to overcome. White-Ra in general has showcased some of the best non-former-WC3 player micro in this entire tournament. I criticized him over his Colossus control in the past, and he seems to have made that observation himself, and improved upon it.

Do not care much for Ret versus Nerchio. I should be upset because Ret is actually a commendable player, but he is a bit boring. Nerchio has great micro and mechanics and Ret's macro just does not hold up against that kind of style.

I am playing civilization IV, I haven't played it in forever, and that was when I was little, and constantly forced into going to war by my brother ( I was very gullable back then.) and I would always end up getting my country destroyed or losing the space race because of loss of territory.
However, now that I play it alone, I find that trying to be peaceful, and constantly keeping check of a DEFENSIVE military, I find the game much easier, and can easily win on difficultys I never thought were possible.
After this realization, I began playing donkey kong country for the gameboy color, which I played when I was five years old...
My ass was still thouroughly beat.
And then I went back to civilization.

ThorZain is making Strelok look like a chump.

Was under the impression that only two users cared so I stopped linking things, as Scy usually knows where to find it.

Not having my dual monitors means I tend to choose to watch rather than watch and type up posts. Usually Skype during these since typing blows.

IPL Finals:

Edit: Not having my monitors (or, rather, my computer table) also means no SC2. I've been without SC2 playing for like a week and a half. I'm too shitty right now to "afford" taking 10+ days from playing. I can feel my macro sucking right now.

Oh, hey, there's another game.

@DQIX, 4HoL, FFIV, etc...

... Radiant Historia so much better than them all and the fact more people haven't played it makes me sad.

Honestly, DQIX I felt was pretty bland but I guess I've just never been much of a DQ fan I suppose. Game felt lackluster, the customization was pretty weak (or too much that meant so little), and the grottos were more annoying than pleasurable. I suppose it came down to the combat mechanics feeling weak and a lack of any attachment to the game or characters; I don't know why I enjoy EO when I typically hate the whole "make your own adventure!" game type.

4HoL I always found perfectly mediocre. Nothing special, nothing bad. It has it's charms but has it's quirks as well. Every time the game did something to make me like it, something happened to bring me back to neutral. I went in expecting nothing and came out feeling nothing. Not that it was bad or anything, just that it had no lasting impact.

FFIV STOP REMAKING THIS. It has moments but it is definitely a great example of a game that you shouldn't look back on too much. You'll think about things that happen and just kind of sigh at it. I still love the game to pieces, sure, but it is definitely a playthrough where I don't dawdle to think about what is going on.

Unfortunately I will have to catch Nerchio versus ThorZain later tonight. Was out for a bit and came back three rounds in, so I will just catch it all later.

Strelok is seriously a for realz, serious pro player? I had assumed he was just some average person, considering he took almost no strategy into consideration, and he just spams and rushes troops, and doesn't seem to be going on a certain strategy, or back up strategy, like he counts his chickens before they hatch.

I've never played SC or SC2 before, and I expect him to wipe the floor with me if I played against him, but compared to the others, he doesn't seem that good.

Strelok is a very by the books typical player. Very good in the essentials and usually doesnt fuck up. He is also a really good Brood War player (one of the top European Terrans) as well.

I wouldnt try to say too much if you dont play or haven't watched a lot. Strelok got outplayed, sure, but the only glaring mistake was messing up Banshee micro that should have turned an entire game around. Thorzain got the better of him but Strelok isn't that bad.

Though, I didn't expect him to beat Thorzain anyway. Maybe I need to rewatch the game but it by no means looked like an all-in just throwing units away that you make it sound like.

I wouldn't say he's throwing away his units, but attacking first, and coming in up-front is a very unwise decision in any situation. Perhaps its not spamming or rushing, like I said, but it seems as though his management of them is very straight forward.

Scy said it well. Strelok is a Terran that uses very basic tools, but he is a great carpenter. He really knows how to look at how a player, and not the race, functions, and work against it. But when he cannot really isolate what the player does, he relies on overall tight standard play. Holds out well enough on the ladder, which is why he can take out players like Morrow or White-Ra every now and then.

But when it comes to tournament play, the next tier of players just generally have a grasp of how to overcome otherwise fatal ordeals like contains and harass. Strelok has a good level of observation, just needs to improve his micro and creativity.

While we are discussing the professional SC2 scene, there is some interesting news. It seems like every team is grabbing Korean talent. We had just recently discussed EG acquiring PuMa. In response, Team Liquid answers with Liquid'HerO, former oGs. Pretty average for Korean GM, but still enough for them to have a better presence in any upcoming international tournaments.. I mean, as far as foreigner teams go, they already have players who perform decent enough in tournaments like HuK, Ret, TLO, etc. It should be interesting.
Not the best game but here is a recent match of his:

Was supposed to see HerO at MLG Raleigh, but he does not seem to be in the . :/
