That makes sense, I can see how korean players are in demand, east asians are very fast to react to things, and have a higher average iq compared to western countries (south korea's average iq is 106,and north korea's is 105, as opposed to the uk's average of 100, or the US' average of 98)
Statistically, recruting koreans is a wonderful choice, now as for language barriers, thats a different story.

Re: Games you are playing
They are more tolerant to playing the game for twelve hours a day, and having a decade-old culture that has elevated StarCraft to their most prominent sport. Being able to have a culture and resources available to train players at even a young age is a huge part in why they are so successful. Very easy for any kid who has the passion and right mindset to take up professional coaching and grab a team contract... something you just will not find anywhere else in the world.
Re: Games you are playing
I need to foster my Korean half, obviously.
And recruiting Koreans is less about higher IQ, better twitch, or any other such things but that the culture there has Starcraft firmly embedded in it. They raise far more serious players who have a better pool of talent to play against. It's not like you can just drop an asian dude into SC and he'll be godlike. They just have an environment that fosters playing SC as a serious thing so you have more people doing it seriously with the resources to do it better.
Then we can get into an argument about APM but that's just bullshit. APM isn't a useful metric unless we're assuming 200 APM vs 250 APM has them both doing everything with their APM at the best of their ability and without any double (or more) clicks anywhere.

Re: Games you are playing
Whether APM is a valid indication of player ability is really a case-by-case sort of thing. By general rule of thumb, WarCraft III players tend to make the most out of their lower APM. As long as you can see them do wonderful things with that 150~ APM, it is not even worth analyzing.
But then I brought up GoOdy last page. I saw a game where he brilliant early game harassment and it really set his opponent behind, but guess what? He banked over 2000 minerals in the process. He could not get his tech and army updated fast enough and lost the game. His low APM reflects at how slow of a player he is, combined with the inability to afford to look away for just a few seconds to throw down some new tech and build more factories.
Edit - wtf Grubby won the game while I was typing that before I had even seen the start.

Re: Games you are playing
I wish I could get into RTS. It's more fun to watch them play than actually play it yourself, really. Except for AoE in sandbox/easy mode. Dicking around is fun.
I remember growing up watching people play C&C and Starcraft on internet cafes, but I never got to play them. I could have been maybe half-decent at RTS if I grew up with those games. This applies to FPS as well. Fuck you RPGs ;;
