*mutters* You talk about late game as if I've reached that... <_<; The farthest I got was on my first playthrough where I met Gordon(?)... meh the astronaut-guy-person.

... I fired it up out of sheer curiosity a few days ago (when I started my current run) and... I'm amazed I got as far as I did. Considering I think some of my guys still had starter equipement on them. But at the same time, I can't remember what I was doing with my guys either... maybe it's not as bad as I THINK I was doing. I mean... I remember still going to the store frequently.... .... probably not frequently enough..... and I didn't do a lot of replaying of maps. I kinda went into it with a Fire Emblem mentality - that all maps should really only be played once. .....

Then there was my second playthrough in which I asked quite a few questions of Scy ^_^ and I still have the PMs and information from that. <3

Don't worry, Scy, I'll definitely PM again if I need to.

<-- still refuses to use Mysterio and Lux In 4 Heroes of Light

It still baffles me as to why the developers even added Lux to the game. Trivializes like four classes with one spell. :/

Re-designs have built-in up to 802.11N support; old models require either an ethernet cable or the wireless adapter.

Also, you don't need the internet to play Dark Souls, just need it to get the "most" out of it with the phantoms running around, messages, and invasions (though, how you feel about invasions is another matter). It's still a competent game without it. Worth noting that the 360 version is probably ever so slightly better if only due to the (optional) install that the PS3 lacks, though it's still marginal at best at that point.

As for Disgaea, it's a rather simple game that boils down to "are your stats better than their stats?" If not, get better stats or "do you have enough characters where that doesn't matter?" Numbers are king in the game; do things to hit harder. I mean, yes, you can do things with tactics and getting creative but the game very much supports (rather, encourages) raw power.

Don't get bogged down in the details. Reincarnation, Item World, Mentor/Pupil, all that stuff ... trying to figure it all out at once. It'll just make you hate the game for having so many small systems that are (crudely) explained. Even if you never utilize them, you'll be able to tackle the main game. It's the post-game where we get into really wanting to use those to their full effect and, even then, a lot of it is superfluous.

Go at your own pace. You won't really suffer due to it.

And, in Dark Souls news, more random boss kills at SL1 (jesus christ is a long fight at 13 damage a swing) and me being dumb and not realizing, hey, you can't actually upgrade Catalysts, they just scale up with INT. D...damn...

Oh well, did some grinding and popped my Pyromancer to 16 STR, 12 DEX, 19 Attunement, ~27 INT and some amounts of VIT and END I don't remember (15/20?). Mostly out of anger at being dumb and losing 7 Humanity earlier when I forgot where Capra Demon was and went in mostly dead and with no Estus Flasks left; tried to just run back and forgot the assassin pops. Interesting note, they have a unique backstab (garrote).

Also, lol at Capra Demon; such an easy fight that people somehow flounder on :| Only one attack is even remotely close to dangerous and he telegraphs it by a fucking mile (though, eating it at the door is practically a given if RNG dictates he starts with it). The dogs are harder than him :/ Though, it is a stupidly hard fight if you do it without a 100% Physical block shield, but you have like 5 options for one by this point.

Yeah, no I know enough about the game to know that it can be played without wireless but... I would hate to miss out on the extra features.

Hrrm... if it needs a wire... if I move the system into MY game room it's in the same room as the modem box.... .... .... I will have to investigate this matter. :[ I HATE thinking that there is a game that I want to play that is so close to be within reach.

WHY WHY COULD IT NOT BE RELEASED FOR WII AS WELL!!! T-T

As for Disgaea: Yeah, the last play through I was starting to learn that. I think one of the number one things I suffered for in my first playthrough was I was trying to keep the same characters throughout the whole of the game. I wasn't really paying attention to the fact that - OH HEY all your characters were "incompetent" with -5 to base stats. And that it really truly is not that difficult to level them up the further you go if you do create new characters and delete old ones.

I do have on single question. You gave me the formual for archers and gunners in one of the PMs. Archers: (ATK+HIT)/2 and Gunners: HIT. What about for the other guys? Do you have formulas for how spears and swords or even how magic is handled? :3
I never know which stat I should focus on. Also what DOES SPD control exactly?

And, though I don't know if it's true for later games, damage of fists.

SPD is evasion for Disgaea.

Swords, Spears, Axes, Fists, and Monster Weapons are all ATK based. Bows are (ATK+HIT)/2, Guns are HIT, Spells are INT.

And, semantics I suppose, but these are just what the game uses to calculate damage (i.e., how it calculates the "attacker ATK" stat).

And there's no way the Wii would have been able to run Dark Souls in anything remotely close to competently.

Edit: derp

SPD is for dodging your own healer like an asshole. :3

Speaking of which, I want Goemon in Super Smash Bros.

(Edit: Isn't Heal still RES-based?)

Disgaea 1 used INT for Healing; RES is every other game.

Erm, HIT, yeah. Not sure why I got SPD in there. I'll blame responding right when I woke up.

That said, to be honest, it's not like the game doesn't outright tell you this. There's an entire NPC dedicated to telling you how all the weapons function and all the weapon stats are indicative of their damage formulas.

Edit: And before it gets pointed out, yes, the Gun formula changes later to (SPD+HIT)/2. But that's irrelevant for Disgaea 1.

Ha ha. Phoenix Wright is such a total baller.

The combo at 0:52 is ridiculous.

There's a sign there with all the characters that didn't appear in 3. Apparently everyone has like "Apprehended" or "slain" on it. Except for Mega Man apparently. But Captain Commando is apparently listed too so I don't give a fuck about buying the game even if the Blue Bomber appears as DLC if CapCom doesn't come back.
