A very interesting article on TF2.

http://www.ubercharged.net/2010/09/05/skill-vs-meta/

This really explains what I try to tell gamers. There is such a huge difference between skill and intelligence. For the sake of this post, I will use the term skill as it refers to:

Mental Agility
Dexterity
Coordination

Being intelligent is a "skill", but not in the context of this post. So anyway...

I have never won an important game because I am skilled. I am slow. I have terrible dexterity. No matter how much I try to master a technique, it will always be barely enough to get by. What gets me around is my perspective and overall aspect of method. The way my mind takes in information is very different from others... it allows me learn something very quickly and make observations when there is seemingly nothing to see. This basically falls within how I can memorize a song I like after just listening to it once or twice. This is not me just touting about what I am good at. Just an example of how things cannot be weighed on skill alone.

If I can pick a character, race or environment that gives one an edge with good decision making versus a twitchy tango, then I will be much better off. Not to say I am entirely inept when it comes to skillful feats... just nothing to be proud of.

This whole thing can also dictate what kind of games people like, to some extent. I would never be playing TF2 if it was one of those realistic shooters where everyone just dies in one hit. Otherwise I am typically playing RPGs and puzzle games more than anything.

Just finished with my Lightning Broadsword. At +5 it does 225 physical and 229 lightning :D

Do you think lightning was the way to go for bypassing most player defenses? under level 50, most players have shit Lightning defense and get raped in Anor Londo by those Winged spear-using Demons due to lightning damage.

Current equips:

Lightning Broadsword +5 ---- [225 phys/229 lightning] (Max Level)
Hollow Soldier Shield +10 ---- [78 stability] ------------ (Temp. Max Level)
Pyromancy Flame (strong) +5 [270 MagAdjust] -------- (Max Level)
Elite Knight Helm +7 ---------- [27 def]
Elite Knight Armor +9 --------- [84 def]
Leather Gauntlets +7 --------- [25 def]
Elite Knight Leggings +8 ------ [46 def]

With above 31 Humanity and the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, my drop rate is capped at 410%. I've been grinding Darkwraiths for Titanite chunks and Slabs ever since. So far I've found 15 chunks. It's pretty easy since I just one-shot Darkwraiths with Great Fireball and Great Chaos Fireball, so I can easily dispatch 8 of them and just warp to Firelink Shrine > repeat.

Lightning is easily the non-scaling type of choice; there's just not as many great options for Lightning Defense as there is for Fire. You may want to look into a Silver Knight Shield over the Hollow Soldier Shield, though I think +15 HSS has better Stability.

So, when I'm not being an idiot in EO, I've been playing King's Field because I want to play a game by From Software, but I have no money for Dark Souls. Even though it's pretty old it's still very enjoyable, though it's graphics have not aged well.

They're pretty slow, but the King's Field games really are quite classic. It's weird seeing a Japanese dev make such western-style games even back in the PS1 era. If you don't already have King's Field IV on PS2, I highly suggest you pick it up (it can easily be found for under $15).

@Scy:
I have a Silver Knight Shield. at +5, it goes to 83 stability, but I don't feel like using all of that Twinkling Titanite on a shield.

...and yes, the HSS +15 does have more, if only a little (85 stability). Since I'll need another slab, it seems like it'll be at +14 for some time.

King's Fields graphics remind me of Baroque's graphics on the Sega Saturn--the one only in Japan.

So, I played a friend of a my roommte in YuGiOh... It was a match made in heaven.

Zombie Deck (mine) VS Gravekeeper Deck.

It was so annoying too, because we forced each other into standstills so many times. xD Necrovalley crippled my graveyard accessibility and after getting rid of it, I crippled his stronger monsters with Zombie World.

Use my first synchro monster too. Revived Ha Des... <33

@_@ It's been forever since I last played, so the deck I'm running has SO many flaws, in my eyes.

Got the Very Large Ember for my PKK character. I then modified my HSS to +11 at Andre so I could upgrade it to +12-15 later at any bonfire.

Regenerating Health would bother me if I gave a shit. Medkits are just as silly, honestly :/

Though, at least Medkits don't promote "oh crap hide for 10 seconds!" firefights.

sigh been stuck on a league of legends kick, yet I am tired of the general lack of incompetence of the players. I play support, yet the players seem to think everything is a tank. sigh

I like the game just hate the people.

I really don't want to play bots all the time.

edit I also finished a visual novel recently. That market seems to be about how many times can you plow something. Don't get me wrong I like "adult" games but I like story as well.

Zeta look cute fillies.
