I found the GBC game pretty hard, but surprisingly good. Didn't know the GBC was that capable. Risky's Revenge (DSi) was also good, but had a bit of a downer/cliffhanger ending. The third game, Pirate's Curse (3DS), is coming out soon, and will resolve the second game's ending. Half-Genie Hero just finished kickstarting and will be released next year (on so many systems you're bound to own one of them).

I think it's fine. The pixel limit is there to keep things from being annoying, not because 501 pixels is bad. As long as it doesn't exceed the height of your avatar.
