I haven't really been able to get into Lain. It was one of the first I bought, but that's mostly because it's a classic, and my sister owned it on tape. I just haven't been able to sit down with it.
Haibane Renmei, on the other hand...
I think I liked Angel Beats because of the comedic elements followed up by the dramatic, and the fact it felt like a Key work, but did not emphasize a ton of cute girls (in fact, almost quite the opposite...). But I think I'll like Samurai Champloo and Monster more overall.
