The director of Summer Wars, Mamoru Hosoda, also directed several Digimon anime, so there's probably some influence noticeable for viewers familiar with Digimon.

Not exactly, just similar plots.
In the digimon movie there was a virus thing that hacked all the computers in the world and was going to make a nuke hit Tokyo. In Summer Wars there was a computer program that the US was experimenting with and unleashed it on the internet and it made everything go hay wire and almost made a satelite crash into a nuclear plant.
... and in .Hack, Pluto's Kiss was a virus that was about to launch nuclear missiles...
I think the Japanese are more nuke-happy than we werein the Cold War.

.Hack is alright. XD I like it to a point. It's just a bit too absurd.

I like some of it, but I find most of the spin-offs pretty lame. G.U.+ and XXXX are really good, but the rest aren't really. I've only read the manga, but if I get a ps2, I'll be sure to get a few of the games.

I feel awful. My favorite manga series gets an anime and I don't even hear about it until now.

Doesn't capture what I like about the original artstyle. But it looks beautiful.
I'm also going to pre-order the manga when I get paid, on Amazon. Hardcover. I don't even think it releases in America until 2011.

I recently (well a few weeks ago) finished watching Tantei Gakuen Q. I hadn't watched anime in quite a while and felt like watching something completley different from what I normally do. I actually found it quite interesting and, although the characters were mostly very stereotypical, I liked the group dynamic. I also found it really cool that, unlike most mysteries, you always get given enough information to solve the case before the main characters do.
I also started rewatching Saiyuki the other day. I think its funny how almost everybody hates Saiyuki, but most of us who do like it love it to death. Hell, if I had to ignore any personal bias (ie all my SaiyukiOMG!!!11ness) and rate it, I would probably give it a 5/10. And 3 of those points are just for its awesome soundtrack. It has the worst animation I have ever seen, by a very large margin. The comedy whilst hilarious is incredibly repetitive. The plot is a cool take on Journey to the West, but that has been done many times before (although maybe not as well).
Despite all this though I absolutley love the show and, once I force myself to sit through an episode or two, I never want to stop watching it XD. I'm still raging that Reload Gunlock hasn't been released over here.
Oh, and not something i'm currently watching, but literally everyday I have to supress mad urges to watch Getbackers for the hundredth time (not an exaggeration. Actually probably an understatement).

I liked Saiyuki until I realized none of the characters were going to canonically fuck each other.
That's just how I roll.
Watching a certain studio Ghibli film. No points for guessing which.

I should have left more of my DVDs unpacked ;___;
Also I need to own My Neighbor Totoro as I currently do not. Such a shame.
