^_^ Watching Usagi Drop. Read the first chapter of the manga in the bookstore one day but didn't get it because I was being el-cheapo.

So, Kamimemo is apparently a detective anime of some kind and I think I just read someone comparing Dantalian to Spice & Wolf in a good way. Ffffff, I was half considering not watching those. Fuck my life...TWO MORE SHOWS. TWO MORE SHOWS.

Can't find Dantalian OP but it seems to be about some dude and a loli (...) solving mysteries (is this a new trend?) about some library that connects to the depths of people's souls? Or something?

Penguins look cute, but the other stuff you described from this ep. makes me not want to watch PenguDrum so much anymore.
Also, Utena is way overrated. "It's symbolic" does not make an anime good.

Dantalian no Shoka 1

No, seriously, why is the first like 10 seconds just some moaning?

I really see what was meant on the "feel" of the banter between Huey and Dalian as being reminiscent of Spice & Wolf. Neither seem up to the task of filling their shoes as it were but it's some fun playful banter between them.

Basically Spice & Wolf lite with economics replaced with books books books and mysteries. I guess it's more like Gosick than Kamimemo's mysteries, though I'm not deep enough into either to make that statement; we're not necessarily solving something as were are interested in the confusion. An allure of the unknown. A bit more action-y too, though nothing encroaching shounen levels, per se. Part of me wants to say it was more just to let Huey have a shining moment of sorts.

It is honestly better than I expected. I'm kind of glad I decided to watch it. Also, obligatory books books books oh god I am drowning in them.

And some things I forgot to note on the other shows:

Mayo Chiki:
Our protagonist, Kinjiro, is Satoshi Hino ...or Yuji from Shana. Main female, Subaru, is Yuka Iguchi who I mostly remember as the other big Dengeki loli, Index. The sadist mistress Kanade is Eri Kitamura, who I mainly remember as Ami from Toradora. Finally, Kinjiro's sister, Kureha, is Kana Hanazawa of goddamn too many roles to list. Tsukimi (Kuragehime), Kuroneko (Oreimo), Anri (Durarara!!), Nadeko (Bakemonogatari), Suou (Darker Than Black 2) and so on.

All in all, pretty big names for them. Haven't placed the other maids (...why does one have an eyepatch anyway???) since they haven't spoken much.

Kami-sama no Memo-chou:
I had to look up our lead, Alice. Yui Ogura who has done practically nothing before this season. Kind of bizarre that her starting role is the lead character (the other is a minor character in Ro-Kyu-Bu). Then again, the male lead of Narumi is also done by someone I know nothing about (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) so maybe it's just JC Staff being cheap as shit. Ayaka is Ai Kayano, who I'm only familiar with as Meiko from AnoHana. Three unknowns for the big three of the show.

Though, worth note that the Drama CD voice actors were no slouches (Minako Kotobuki, Atsushi Abe for the leads; Ayaka was done by Yoko Honda who isn't a big name either though).

Then again, Daisuke Ono voices one of the other NEET team members so ... huh? I didn't place, nor care for, the other NEET guys.

And just to get it out of spoiler tags, Dantalian no Shoka:
Speaking of Daisuke Ono, our protagonist Huey is voiced by him. Library Goth Loli Dalian is by Miyuki Sawashiro is everywhere so I'll just shake my head at you for not knowing. As for everyone else in the episode,

Will note that Dalian's use of "Yes" strikes me as weird. It just stands out.
