I really like Sword Art Online. I really do (moreso the novels). But since I started watching the Anime, I couldn't help but cringe at some of the completely pointless fanservice.
Yes, let's have a very serious plot, and stop for about ten seconds to show off a main female character falling on top of the protag, having him accidentally grab her breasts, then go back to a serious duel immediately afterwards :V
Yay! I love Anime cliches being tossed in for no reason!

Yeah, I do believe SAO's source isn't exactly that fanservice heavy. At most, isn't there the I dunno. I still need to get around to watching anime again.

Well, if I learned anything from HotD, Anime adaptations generally have a fuckton of added (and also usually unneeded) fanservice.
...and yes, there is that canon scene. However, I wouldn't really consider that to be fanservice, so much as character development (a very important event in their relationship). Leave it to a beta tester to know about black market dealings within the company.

The anime can get pretty unbearable with some of the cliche garbage thrown in.

I just watched the Eye Opening chapter (Meakashi-hen) of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.. *deep breath* I'm definitely going to watch something brain-bleachy after I finish Higurashi.

Re: What anime are you currently watching?
So about a year ago if not more I attempted to watch Baccano. Only got through like eight episodes or so. Roughly.
I was so LOST that I gave it up. I didn't pay attention to the times. It actually took me a while to figure out that the scene changes were more than just location jumps but that they were actual YEAR jumps.
I LOVED the storyline, though, and despite the inconvenience, I LOVED the anime all the more for that.
On top of it all, I was watching it on youtube, unfortunately, and that coupled with the old computer that I had, the brightness of the video was awful. It was so dark that some scenes were too dark to even try to figure out what the hell just happened - and there's a lot of dark scenes in the anime.
So I put it up. Deciding to put some time in between my memories and to rent it on DVD.
Rey-Miri has been toting around a Jacuzzi Splot avatar and the other day he was teasing me in the book thread about something from the anime and I realized ^_^; I didn't have a bloody clue what the hell he was talking about. :3 So, I figured that, along with having Netflix, and a new computer with a brighter screen - it was time to try out the anime again.
I'm through the first two discs, just about up to where I was before. I'm also making notes to follow the time jumps and put everything into chronological order. ^_^ Having fun with the anime. Since I've been out of the anime loop for a while, it's refreshing to jump back in.
<_< It's funny, you would think that I would hate this anime. It has so many annoying characters and some absurd scenarios, but for some reason I love those parts the most. Isaac and Miria are definitely my favorite characters.... *shrugs*
Sending out for the next two and final dvds. Can't wait to finally complete this anime. :3

What better tea to drink while watching Rozen Maiden than rose tea?
