I read Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. It's interesting for what it is (non-offensive romance). It has no real "hooks" or anything big going for it, just kind of a pleasant cast and a cute pairing.

A cute pairing that also doesn't take for-fucking-ever to make any progress.

The funny thing is... Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, the one that I thought I would be waiting for the longest and possibly give up hope for and went ahead and started reading the manga... :3 was picked up by Crunchyroll as "My Little Monster"

:\ I only know of one scene off the top of my head that was real eye roll inducing because of that and it was unappreciated... and somehow out of character, I felt. Fortunately it's only the one scene and I can't recall any others (and I've gone through 4 volumes), so I wouldn't worry Kimiko. But yeah, I can appreciate your concern about that. I hope they don't drag that out in the anime.

Wait, why wouldn't someone pick up Kaibutsu? It's one of the bigger names for the season.

@rape jokes - I honestly don't even remember this. Maybe at the start with the whole "he's an insufferable prick" thing.

is the most detailed criticism of it I've seen so far. That (p)reviewers completely ignore the whole issue just rubs in how blasé people have become about rape/assault jokes.

I wouldn't say that it's played for a joke, and the line is totally unnecessary for his development as an insufferable prick so, really, it doesn't need to exist. It's this part of him that I refer to when I speak of the Haru I dislike. I suppose it's meant to highlight his inability to deal with social environments but it's just dumb.

The development for the duo is rather nice, though Haru still has his bouts of occasionally aggressive dumb as time goes by. It just isn't as often as Shizuku exerts more and more control.

I will note that the whole

I do agree that a lot of shoujo (and josai) like to have the overly aggressive male lead that dominates everything. Sometimes, it's not really a bad thing but a lot of terrible writing has it come off not as aggressively pursued in a charming way but aggressively forced.

New Season of Gintama...They're back and they picked the best Arc to make an awesome return with.
This season of anime is going be awesome...hopefully if any favorites aren't done badly (Zetman flashbacks) ugh >.>
