New arc is Valentine's Day / Tsuruga's birthday so it's filled with (one-sided) <3 (poor guy). Reintroduction of [s]BEAGLES[/s]Vie-Ghoul that I forgot existed (well, not really name is funny) for necessary DRAMAZ. More interested in seeing how, unfortunately, Tsuruga's birthday fails. Or, hey, it may be awesomely awesome for him (Kyoko's birthday was pretty good) so who knows.

Other news, 07-Ghost still has me expecting guy-on-guy [s]rape[/s] rape. ...

*shrugs* Could just find the manga. It's a little more fleshed out and less wait ... sort of. I mean, Skip Beat is bi-weekly releases so ... quite a bit of a wait before another season. They more-or-less stopped at the end of Volume 12 (c72). Assuming another season of roughly equal length, it would be about a year before they'd have the material most likely (c138 just released so like 2-3 months for c144 for another 72 chapter length season).

Not to like ... burst your bubble or anything. I'm still waiting for quality subs of the first season >>.

[spoiler]That and I think it was planned as a one season thing. That's the impression I get from reading through what some of the seiyuu said (notably Kyoko's; Marina Inoue) at the end of it about wanting a 2nd season to happen.

I saw Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for the first time yesterday. It was great. The animation is a little rougher than what they've done in recent years, but it was still awesome nonetheless.

So hrm ... Valkyria Chronicles (anime) so far is interesting. Same plot line (rather, same basic events) but the way two events connect is ... well, WAY FUCKING DIFFERENT. I'm actually a fan of this. Complete exact same retelling would A) be pretty boring, imo~ and B) make no fucking sense since I steamrolled every mission with little to no trouble (read: save/reload to get that glorious A rank scoutrushlolololol ... T.T). For example, the fall of Bruhl (srsly, this is back of the box spoilers yo) makes little sense in the game since you can, if you so choose, destroy and kill EVERY LAST IMPERIAL (sans one) in the first story chapter. They still pull out and retreat. The anime at least makes it slightly more "realistic" and has them have an overall crushing defeat everywhere and merely pull off a diversion to stall for time for the retreat. IT MAKES SENSE.

Alicia as a tsundere is ... hrm. Dunno. She's not like that really in the game (not even close ... I kind of expected her to SERIALMURDERER since she's too fucking nice at times) and maybe I need to use the Japanese audio track (the dub is actually good here~) and see if Welkin is this much of a fucking airhead. He still looks like Kraft which boggles my mind. Either way, I <3 Alicia so whatever works.

My only real nitpick is the Squad 7 weaponry doesn't match their game classes yet. Yeah, yeah, bitch and moan but seriously ... they all use Scout Rifles That and no Freesia (my favorite non-Alicia, non-Skies of Arcadia GUESTAPPEARANCEWOAH Scout). She looks a lot like Yoruichi so ... confuses me a bit that she didn't make the cut (and fucking Susie did?).

I'll get unlazy eventually and get screencaps or something. Still need to find another Spring show to follow outside of Fullmetal (seriously, what the fuck are they doing with the plot? Faithful adaptation seems a bit farfetched to be honest) and Hayate. Phantom seems decent, albeit "ACTION DRAMA" ... and the fact it's an eroge makes the plot confusing to me a little. 07-Ghost follows the story of the raping of Teito from what I can tell and I haven't gotten around to the rest of the shows. Time to unlazy I guess.

In other news, re-re-re-re-re-alotmorere's-reading Detective Conan. From the start. Like ... nearly 70 volumes. Oh boy. All because I have like 6-ish volumes to catch up on >> Well, that and I want to see if I remember each and every last case still.

Maybe I should actually buy Valkyria Chronicles XD

Detective Conan = WIN

Considering it's pretty rare (-ish) ... no reason not to. Especially since it's probably the best SRPG this gen, if only for the completely egalitarian way of leveling (you earn EXP based on mission performance and dole it out to the class types which applies to all characters of that class). Makes playing other SRPGs a bit annoying on trying to keep those fucking healers leveled.

Hard EX Skirmishes, Edy, and Selvaria's mission pack DLCs were just released recently as well.

And, yes, DC is win. Unfortunately, I think I have more to catch up on then I originally thought ... >> No matter what though, even after 500+ chapters (that I've read), Shinich and Ran still make me sad on the whole PREDICAMENT.

Spice and Wolf II (OVA)
[spoiler]...is completely dedicated to transforming Horo into a tsundere. A jealous tsundere. Also, showing Kraft as being the typical "I AM SLOW" character. AND NOLA IS THE DIMWITTED LOVE RIVAL (without realizing it?!).

Not much Spice and Wolf merchant fare. Just a romance episode special. Pretty much gets it right out there that Horo has fallen for Kraft, Kraft is slow and dumb, and Nola is adorable (...huh, wait).

Also, I need to re-watch season 1 to compare the animation.[/spoiler]

Incidentally, for anyone curious, the light novels are being released semiannually starting December '09 ... which means something like 5 years to CATCH UP Just release them slightly faster until we catch up. PLEASE?!

[spoiler]The intro song has me confused. Like, seriously. A lot. Was that a mecha? And some girl with a jetpack and missiles? WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?

Anyway, seems to be waaaay too much stuff done for the sake of fanservice. I mean, what the fuck (episode 3) was the point of Kanade posing SEDUCTIVELY (in her revealing prisoner garb) during the steps leading up to the fight scene. Seriously. I don't really mind the "OH LOOK MC LIEKS BEWBZ" moments but that? What?

As for the story, who knows. Something about human sacrifices to power Asura Machina, Kanade is a demon ("a~-ku~-ma~"), something about god and "Dark Society" and the MC joining THE FORCES OF EVIL (that are probably really the good guy because church is always secretly evil).

Oh and some weird, weird, weird fascination with the MC's older brother. Seriously. STOP MENTIONING HIM.

Oh and the penultimate plot seems to be if the MC and Kanade fuck and have a kid, THE WORLD WILL GO BOOM. Or something? They keep phrasing it as them "pairing up" will "birth" an evil.

Also, fanservice big breasted ULTRA SHY miko ("...cosplay...") is a bit oh god. I expect her to have some personality flop in her heterochromatic eye "form" or something so she can complete it with a super powered tsundere too ... though what little they show has her being normal when her eyes switch.[/spoiler]
