What anime are you currently watching?

Yes, I realize it appears in other series to an extent, but other series makes it obvious by making the characters chibi or just doesn't make it look THAT obvious. This just stands out as really really bad to me, so bad to the point that I'm shocked people are actually defending it, but, we are getting off the subject. >_>; Clearly it is just my opinion and so I'll deal with it.

Crab vs Cat
[spoiler]Ok, I remember you explaining that cat thing to me before, but how the hell does a cat that might or might not be dead that could be considered both dead and alive have ANYTHING to do with this crab-god story thing that they mentioned. I do have to agree that what the fuck is with [s]SPINZAKU[/s] Oshino's flowers. They're just kind of there but not there. I half think they're just light projections on his shirt since they don't fucking do anything but, no, they're clearly decorations ... that's pretty lazy and kind of freaky. Seems too weird, though, since there's scenes focusing on him and the shirt so it has to be intentional, right? Right?

[spoiler]The entire direction of his speech was that she wasn't "just afflicted" but it has always been with her and she didn't realize it until her perspective was changed. Much like Schrodinger's Cat being both alive and dead until checked, she was both "normal" and "not normal" until the realization.

"Everywhere yet nowhere" principle, which is the basis of Schrodinger's argument. One can be in a state of knowing and not knowing.

It doesn't have much to do with the Crab itself, just with the whole "her being afflicted" and "being a victim" plight. I'm not totally sure on the HOW she became that way but he's just correcting her view on the situation. The conversation was pretty much that she was both "afflicted but not" and the crab was "there but not" and so-on. Umineko has me in a perpetual state of paradox solving so maybe I'm seeing something not there.

Incidentally, the Vampire (?) that afflicted Araragi (?) being a little girl now (Shinbu) is kind of funny. Wonder if we'll ever see her again like she's in the OP.

...assuming that's who she's supposed to be, anyway. I wager she's part of the prequel story anyway (Koyomi Vampire) based off the OP. Fuck if I know, I just want more more heart ripping out that the OP showed.

Also, the Fullmetal Alchemist joke made me laugh.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]I'm not sure if she's the one who turned him but hey, she's the one in the OP (Kiss-shot Acerola-Orion Heart Under Blade is the name of the blonde Vampire in the OP and the girl's name is Shinobu - the "heart" under the "blade") so she has some relevance. Koyomi is a vampire (rather, former) and he refers to Shinobu as merely a "shadow and shell" of a vampire and beautiful demon.

Plus knowing that the OP is stuff prior to the series (well, it says so) helps. He mentions meeting Kiss-shot during the break between his second and third year and it started the chain of events. That break is when he became a vampire (and I guess cured it that same week?) so she either caused it or the events leading up to his Vampirism. She was DEFINITELY participating in the events since Oshino mentions that she worked hard during that Golden Week.

The FMA Joke was:
"Is that what you call equivalent exchange?!"
"Copper, 40g; Zinc, 25g; Nickel, 15g; Hiding embarrassment, 5g; and evil intention, 97kg. That's what my harsh remarks are transmuted from."

It could be just a random alchemy joke but it's NisiOisin's style to parody other manga/anime so ... yeah.[/spoiler]

The weirder part of it is that it animates normally in the OP when he appears ... it's just during that scene where it just kind of floats there. Who knows. And it is drawn on, it's just not rendered in every frame (it skips frames since they DO eventually shift, just not in the same scene he originally moved in).

Edit: On a completely different (but same?!) note ... what fucking kind of name is Kiss-shot Acerola-Orion Heart Under Blade anyway? First time I saw that, I seriously thought it was some fucked up babelfish translation. Kiss-shot? Really?

A lot of effort and time spent on Hitagi getting dressed ... but the entire dressing (undressing) scene very much reminds me of Medaka Box. Except condescending and haughty ... well, Medaka is rather "arrogant" but in a naive kind of way. Hitagi is a bit more direct ... plus self-proclaimed tsundere.

Hitagi entertains me immensely. I hope she sticks around (Araragi x Hitagi?!). Oshino's whole rationale for "treating" her is rather entertaining too.

AND OUT OF LEFT FIELD SERIOUSMODE with Hitagi's attempted rape. What the fuck, that came out of nowhere. And ... crab. Crab? CRAB.

So her loss of weight was forgetting her past memories and feelings; the loss of those "feelings" was the loss of her "weight," complete with some wordplay puns (feelings = weight). She cut her ties with her mother when she met the crab; in exchange, she forgot her mother and the associated worries. No "feelings."

The crab didn't do anything to her, per se, but she tricked herself into losing her ability to feel. A literal "weight off her shoulder" by forgetting her troubles.

...and then this is all juxtaposed with a scene from her flashback of a BANDAGED DOLL symbolizing her out of surgery. What the fuck yo.

This shit is surreal what the fuck.

Anyway, Hitagi as a non-ice queen (as she regained her feelings) is rather adorable too. Back to my Koyomi x Hitagi hope~~~

And hahaha at him gaining Hitagi's weight (is this symbolic of something? remember, weight = feelings!).[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Reading through it, the episode was rather faithful to the chapter. It even kept most the back-and-forth teasing of the two, even down to the proper wording. Haven't read it all, just glanced through it. I may end up reading through this after watching an episode or something who knows. Might read through the early novels to see what that's like vs Season 1.[/spoiler]

These strange scenes that the series uses is just... WEIRD... o_O;

And it did that thing with the patterns again with her undies. I'm going to guess it's just a style choice that is intentional. I think the animators are purposely doing everything in the world and under the sun to make the whole animation make you ask WTF, from staplers (I will never look at them the same way again) to crappy-looking animation.

Personally, I think it has too many issues to even bother bringing up animation quality anymore o_O;

[spoiler]I liked the whole "weight" pun, though, I really do. And, you're right, the whole rape thing really did just come out from no where. I never would have suspected that.

BTW, I am SO wanting to make that image into a wallpaper. :3 HitagixAraragi!! I don't see her losing too much of her "I am bitch queen" attitude. At least, I hope it doesn't. "FINE! I ADMIT IT! I'M A VIRGIN!" Someone needs to keep him on his toes like that XD

It's probably the animation style where it's animated "on top of" them. I'm not certain, to be honest and I know there's a proper word for this (a few games use it to). It stood out but it's reminiscent of some other serieseseseseseses. It's a Shaft thing to do these random cuts to other things (watch Maria+Holic's OP; gg's subs are amazing on that too) but some of it is "huh what the" in this.

Not quite sure, to be honest. I wouldn't call it crappy since I reserve that for truly awful animation work and not style ... but we've had this so ... yeah. ANYWAY.

[spoiler]It's very Zetsubo-y, which makes sense I suppose. It has a lot of weird imagery but it works if you wrap your head around it. It's just strange stuff though. I want to read the source material just to see if it's really this rather "what huh?!" in it.

I think there's something lost in the subs (well obviously). Some of the lines are just "why would you ever say that?" but I think it's just the sub wording. I know NisiOisin has some fascination with meta-humor (the joke is the realization that it's a joke) and I think some of that might be Lost in Translation. Not sure? I dunno. May need to compare subs (IF MORE THAN ONE QUALITY GROUP EVER SHOWS UP) or something?

And, yeah, I really hope that she stays more headstrong and doesn't turn into classic subserviant female role (then again, tsundere is rather ... oh whatever, I love some spunk and crazy).
