Why Are You Happy Today?

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
I don't think I sound very southern at all, barring some various colloquialisms (fuck you, I say y'all).
Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
I certainly don't sound Texan, at least according to the dozen or so Northerners I've spoken with. I've been told I have no accent whatsoever and I've been told I sound French or Arabic. I've even been asked if English was my first language due to how I phrase things.
"Where are you from?"
Texas.
"Yeah, but where were you born? Where were you raised?"
...Texas.
"...Huh."
Huh, indeed.
Too many books and not enough human interaction when I was growing up, methinks.

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
Having lost my Irish accent I now have the west coast generic accent. Boooriiiiing. According to my friends I still retain some "foreign" speech patterns and pronunciations.
Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
I occasionally speak in bad Engrish. Which is a complicated concept, now that I think about it.

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
After being in Minnesota for only about a year, I have caught myself taking on a slight midwestern accent, on occasion, like elongating "o"s and flattening "a"s. I think it's kind of cute when I hear it, and I suppose I want a little bit of that in me now.

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
I have had to train myself extensively to sound less French.
Sometimes when I say a word like "mother", people are like "Huh? What's that?"
Mothehl =/= Mother :/

@Roselhort: Is your accent really that thick? That's awesome.

I don't sound like I was born in Utah or raised in Tennessee at all.
Also, Rosel, that accent is great.

Erm, it is not as strong as one may think. Just enough to hinder my vocal clarity.

Re: Why Are You Happy Today?
I say some words funny, if I don't think about it I say "yeh" instead of "you", ect. My speech is rather lazy, i guess. Don't know if it's a "Candian" accent, it's certainly not an east-coast Canadian accent.
