I read very fast. I've always been this way.
Generally I read between 60-80 pages an hour. I was reading The Last Unicorn, which has fairly large print and generous margins between the lines, so I was able to get the whole book read in around three hours.
I am also very comfortable sitting down and reading for hours on end. I've marathoned my way through several books in one go. I did the 6th and 7th Harry Potter books that way. After I got off work from the midnight release I went home and read until I finished the book. I also did that with Smoke and Ashes, the last Tony book by Tanya Huff.
Actually sometimes I regret how fast I can get through books. I want to savor them and make them last, but I just get so caught up in reading that the next thing I know it's over. That's why I started reading the longest books I could find in junior high, which ended up being epic fantasy shit like Jordan and Goodkind.

I read about 400 pages of Bleak House in one night this one time. I think I averaged out at a bit more than a page a minute. The only way I was able to get through it was turning it into a game, sort of like racing against the clock. Not fun.

I spent the pre-dawn hours riding in a cab with my brother to the hospital to get him checked out in case the symptoms he experienced over the weekend were indicative of a mild stroke (as his nurse friend suggested it might be). He got a CAT scan and everything's fine. Doc said it was probably just a migraine. : / All that worry, unable to sleep 'cause my brother could just DIE any moment, and it was just a migraine. I am beyond relieved.
We actually had fun, afterward. We walked home from the hospital (even though it was TOO COLD and wet from the rain) and stopped by a thrift store on the way. I found some purdy scarves and some nice sneakers. Been meaning to replace my old pair. AND THEN THERE WERE TACOS. I love little taco stands. In my experience, the food has always been amazing.
To top it all off, I'm knitting while I introduce my brother to the wonder that is Firefly.

Speaking of Firefly, I started watching Castle.
dat detective
Edit: Actually, that reminds me of a friend that basically refused to get a CAT scan or basically anything to look into his chronic shoulder pain. Turned out to be a torn ligament or something of the sort that healed improperly. Thousands upon thousands of dollars later, the pain won't go away, so it's like armHouse or something. Still, it's rather sad looking back on the years of "so yeah get that shit checked out?" finally resolving in "too late, the doctor that saw this years ago was terrible holy shit why did he not get this right."

Gorram brain-midgets. D: I sincerely hope those clear up for you. I've had my battles with them in the past as well.
Yeah, my brother and I were joking about the most expensive migraine in history. /shrug Oh, well. Better safe than sorry, what with our family history being riddled with brain tumors and strokes an' whatnot.
Have you posted your thoughts on Castle in the What You're Watching thread? I'd like to know your opinion on it. I caught part of an episode for the first time a few days ago and... was very much not impressed.

No, I haven't but I'll just be brief here. I'm enjoying it for what it is (pop thriller detective show) that lives and dies by the cast. Castle (Nathan Fillion) is an interesting character for the time being with his antics and the chemistry of him and Kate (Stana Katic) is a very tried and true one that I still enjoy every little bit of. Castle doesn't seem to be a very serious of a show, though, so I wouldn't expect much in that regard.
The first episode had a cameo with James Patterson that I feel summarizes basically what I expected from the show. It's paced rather brisk start to finish with something always coming up, twists are a necessary course of action as every detail that gets found exonerates the most recent person of interest and points fingers at someone new, and, at least as far as season 1 is concerned, the grislier the murder, the better.
It definitely has a case of the "has it been 50 minutes yet? Alright, here's the solution" way of television, though.
But, again, it comes down to the cast. I like Castle and I like Kate so I enjoy watching them. The fact it's pop thriller stuff that lets me/makes me want to solve the case is a wonderful little bonus.
And, again, I'm also only 1 season in. There's a good chance that it jumps the shark at some point. And there's been at least one lame episode thus far with the whole . Pretentious victims makes it hard for me to not want to murder them all myself.
