@stat rolling
Yeah, 9s are the lowest. I don't know, it's just the way I was told to do it. My character's lowest score ended up being a 10, for strength, which gives her a 0 modifier.
I'm a Witch, which is entirely different than a Wizard. :p but similar enough I suppose. My wisdom is ridiculously low, making my modifier pretty crap. Deneb's insanely smart, she just isn't very wise. My cat has a better wisdom modifier than I do. My only good save is my Reflex, and that's because since I'm an elf I got an early dex bonus, and I chose dex as my next-highest stat after Intelligence.
We're at level 9. All the saves pop up pretty frequently... I usually get lucky, but one time I failed my reflex save and was nearly eaten by a plant. The DM forced my character to go off by herself when Deneb's #1 rule is NEVER GO ALONE. She's a very big believer in the buddy system. She's very aware that she's a highly squishy and can't take down anyone by herself -- she does have some high-level fire spells (her patron deity is the elemental one, so normally witches don't get things like Fireball, but she does, and she carries a Staff of Fire, too) but her spell list is usually full of things to help out the party, not kill things.
I was a little miffed at the DM for that one but, meh.

This is why I wasn't that good of a DM; I felt bad for the PCs and wanted them to succeed.

We got to our first dungeon, in my campaign. I chose a VERY terrible weapon for fighting undead with. Of the 3 of us, our half orc is the only one without damage reduction, while our Cleric can use Turn undead 3 times. We've had to use it twice already, and we are only 2 rooms into an 8 room dungeon. xD
With my character having the best charisma of the party, I handled the talking with the noblegirl we just saved. The party now has to go save her guard, who for some reason went deeper into the cave. The second room had one enemy: The Skeletal Dog. That fight was a disaster, because with our rolls, nobody could hit the broadside of a barn. Damage reduction is ruining everything for me and the cleric. xD
After our session, I asked the DM if we'd be able to take the tapestries in the dungeon back to town to sell them for some extra money. Is that a normal question for an action? XD

Well, being a Neutral Good character, I might not have a decent enough alignment, but the other two characters are Neutral and Chaotic Good. Though apparently Cyran characters (we're using Eberron, despite our DM not liking the setting as much as others) are supposed to have an appreciation of art, which is where my character is.
Depending on the weight, we might just make our half-orc packmule eveything we raid from it.
I read the little handbook on what Cyran characters are supposed to know. I laughed at what he would know:
1. Where he was on the Day of Mourning: Away from home, fighting the war; did not hear about Cyre until a couple weeks later.
2. Artistic Expression: He wrote stories, but ended up getting caught up in a lot of things in the past 3 years, he's very rusty.
3. The Cyran Apprecian: Things changed after Cyre blew up. He sees the beauty and the dangers of powerful magic.
4. What Happened on the Day of Mourning: He doesn't really talk about his theories, but outside of the game, I have told the DM that if he could be outspoken (he's an ambassador in training, having suspicions of other countries would be bad), he's suspect Breland. I mean, they're the only ones being EXTREMELY nice to Cyrans and as far as I know, they had no real reason.
5. How to Perform a Cyran Tango... lolwut?
And that is when I realized how much of a tsundere Empress would become. If he ever has to do that dance, he'll make his party leave. xD

The new 4E Shade race seems disliked because of the standard action inherent power. But the 2nd level utility Twilight Torch should be pretty great for thieves and Cunning rogues. Especially for Master Thieves. The anemia just makes sense. If they let someone with a bright enough torch get too close they're still in trouble.

So, we made it out of the first dungeon today, and the new guy joining us scares me with his character. xD He's a chaotic evil wizard that's been burning everything in site.
I still have the highest Charisma score of the party, meaning I still have a use. xD Also, when it came to in character stuff, my character was the only good choice to trust with a gun, seeing as he was the only one most likely to have handled one in the past. The other good thing is I get to sell the musket and pistol I was given for extra gold after this all.
I also joined another campaign that meets on Saturdays. It's a homebrew, which probably will be fun. When we rolled for stats and equipment, I got lots of 20s. xD I'm pretty much an overpowered Undead Blaze(Wind/Fire) Elemental Mage.
