Well, he basically revamped his homebrew and decided to kill our our characters off. Then he surprised us all with the possibility of them returning and basically having fun.

Now, here's where my DM is really beginning to tick me off. I rolled good rolls for my next characters stats and proficiencies. He even said that I'm being specifically targetted just because I chose one of my armor proficiencies to be the same as my previous character. What he doesn't realize was that me breaking his system is entirely his fault. He GAVE me that armor. He LET me roll for the parts I wanted to add to my zombie. I even said that to him too.

I honestly could have found a thousand better ways to get my character killed, if I was in his shoes than basically making enemies that were specifically meant to beat me. I mean, having a psychic as an opponent is one thing, because I couldn't defend myself against mental invasions very well, but then he threw in the enemy hitting me with something that turned my armor into its basic components. =_= There was a ridiculous roll for saving each armor piece too (like I think it was 17).

I'm gonna be really ticked off if he ruins my character's daughter, if he somehow ties her into the next campaign. Because she may be an NPC in his campaign, but she was originally my character. He always images out characters much worse in personality than they actually are (That's just the writer in me that gets annoyed by OOC actions). /pouts

As for making stronger monsters.. he made them a bit too strong. Our party was all level 10 and we were fighting monsters about level 19-25. In addition, they all could deflect spells. Now, what bugged me about this was the deflected my breath attacks, because they conveniently became magic after my DM mentioned they weren't in a previous session. Then I just had to outwit him by out damaging his counter.

Honestly, I have tons of complaints about my friend as a DM. I might be eating my words during my first session as DM, but I will at least take notes on what I allow to maintain some consistancy. I may be DM, but I wanna make sure that the battles feel natural. If you're fighting something without a brain, I highly doubt it'd know to attack the person with the lowest defense for an easy kill.

EDIT:

I completely forgot one more thing my DM did. Because of how good my luck is, he said that if I crit'd three times in a row in any situation, anyone in my party can steal my crit, even though I usually benefit from it a lot more than anyone else.

Really, he's just making it a little unrewarding for me to get good rolls.

That's what I was thinking too. Though, my character's daughter has a hammer that can do that now too. The difference is that I solely created her for farming/character development/RP purposes. That is actually my biggest problem. I feel like it's 75% mechanics and 10% DM fuckery and 5% RP.

I felt like there was hardly a story and the way the DM just made every NPC basically a thousand times stronger than us, I'm like, "Why are we adventurers again?" I mean, I lost count of the amount of times our characters really just get kind of undermined because every NPC seems to be stupid powerful and it kind of gets old when everything is hostile towards you for no real reason.

I'm going to enjoy being a DM with this as my standard. I feel like while you can have fun as DM, you gotta make sure that the others are having fun as well. So, I'd be totally open to my friends giving me feedback on how I'm running things. I won't change some things, but if I can make things more enjoyable, I'll totally try new things.

That is one of my pet peeves, when the DM only gets enjoyment from making the characters fail. I alway hated that with one of my DMs, whenever we rolled a one, this would happen.

Moi: Shoot! Rolled a one, sorry guys, no stun for this thing, but I did prepare an acid ball earlie-
DM: No no! You rolled a one! You fail! Roll again to see how much you fail!
Moi: Hm, um, okay *rolls an 11*
DM: Ha ha, when you try to hit the monster, your attack bounces off and hits you! And you get all confused and fall down, and now you're prone!
Moi: Why!? All I rolled was a one!
DM: Because thats all the fun I can have as a DM.
Moi: ugh...

Good luck on DM'ing though Drathi, I'm sure you'll do fine if you can pinpoint that other GM's weak points, just remember that it takes some planning. I'll be starting a pathfinder campaign next week, I'll tell you all how it goes.

Yeah, fumbling (Rolling a 1) really screws you over in any situation. I even have to remind my DM to follow his own rules, when he fumbles. XD You also get a super crit if you get a fumble and a crit roll for an attack.

But yeah, what you just described your DM doing would be what hed do specifically to me. Why? Because he thinks I make battles too easy and need to be debuffed or rendered useless at every opportunity.

As for my own DM session, I did ask my current DM to help me out with the custom class for my character's daughter, who will now be a central NPC in my campaign. xD She's gonna be a rogue magical girl on a quest to bring her father back. I did make many hints of her being a boss fight too and everyone knows that she has her father's spells and will be only getting stronger. Then you see her hammer, which is always getting stronger... It'll be doing like 5 D20 damage, I bet. XD

The only difference between Vodka (that's her name) and the NPCs introduced in the previous campaign is that we have proof she is not strong because of a DM's idea off the top of his head. XD She was supposed to be someone I character farmed, but then she got absurdly strong. The only other character in this campaign with any form of reasonable power was someone known as "The Gambler." I will give my DM some credit for saying that my character was actually evenly matched with this boss, before he died 300 years ago. Their rematch was a curbstomp, but my character said, "Give me 300 years and we'll be back to where we started."

My DM knows I also love Vodka as a character. xD Everyone loved her. You have a chaotic evil character who bent over backwards and acted like Hughes when it came to her. She also was a constant source of cuteness the whole campaign during the moments I could RP a little bit with conversations. She basically either clung to her father, drew on the robot, studied inside the tank, or played with our giant wolf. The DM even let me reroll a bunch of times when it came to getting her skills and stuff.

Then count the fact that she saved the entire party once during a party wipe. XD She froze everyone and surfed on her father, dragging everyone back to town to revive them.

Have wings.

Lots of young DMs hate flying PCs for the reason that they only want to use walking melee monsters. They have some rigid sense of fairness revolving around complete homogenity. (Or so they say. I know lazy.) They're all over the net.

Well, this was maybe a year ago.

Well, he DID give me wings. It was his fault for letting me go crazy with Unnatural Configuation as my perk as a zombie. xD

Had a smashing game of Maid RPG over steam today. You guys would love it. In fact, I could start a play-by-post if we had enough people.
