Good news! That's still only 43 points, assuming no cross-class skills. You have 45. Also, you're human so a Commander will count as your favored class, so no multiclass penalty anyway. That is a cool house rule, though.

Horizon Walker sounds cool. And familiar. I just can't remember what it is. XD

Horizon Walker essentially gets bonuses if they fight in certain environments. Like, if I'm fighting in the mountains and that is one of my Terrain Expertise skills, I get a bonus.

http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Horizon_Walker

I need to put some points into Geographic Knowledge and get the Endurance feat, though. I also have to make sure my character is an asset, because he has an ability called "Inspire Sacrifice." If a party member is within 5 feet of me, they can take a blow for me that would bring me to 0 or below. Though, I can only do it once per hour.

I should send you guys the PDF of the players guide my friend gave me. Aside from the x3 typo, regarding my skill points, it has stuff about the Commander class.

So, my DM is getting on my nerves for not letting me be a tank. The fact is that he puts us in a cycle of getting new armor, facing more powerful enemies RIGHT AFTER WE GET IT, and deals the same amount of damage we took before the upgrade.

Basically, this is because my character is builty to literally be an Artillery Tank. She hits hard and takes hard hits like a boss. The problem is that before, my DM would be dealing like 200 damage per hit that ignored my armor. I created a magical storm by killing a dragon-horse with this spear I got (Spear of Chaotic Rebirth) and my half of old armor defenses became my natural defense and all effects of it became passive, but half (so I got +10 to Dimension and Arcane, half of any pain inflicted on me, and pretty nice defense).

In the next town, I bought a new armor set that was essentially a plate version of my old armor. Then I covered my low MDEF by buying a cape with all its defense in magic. To give you an idea of how much better I am, let me use our only encounter of the day(understand this homebrew's HP system is absurd):
I have 460 HP.

The first attack that hit us for 240 Piercing damage with 50 Afterburn. The afterburn tinked, but the 240 ignored my leather armor, leaving me at half HP. The piercing weakness of Leather and Chainmail makes it useless givn how often we run into that sort of thing.

Then the magic attacks would deal around 100-150 damage each hit. I'd be taking around 50-100 damage from those.

My friend nearly died during this fight, because his head (he's a robot) was nearly melted off during a barrage of fire attacks.

If I had the defenses I have now back then:

I'd be taking 155 from the first attack and 20-60 damage from magic. The fact is that it would put me on par with these encounters we're running into.

My DM used the arguement I nearly oneshot the dragon that attacked me with my parry--I got lucky. And then I one-shotted the rider by destroying a useless weapon that dealt his armor weakness and did over 1000 damage to him, because of the multipliers of being at 1 HP and human.

I did not like it, but the fact was that I had to pull bastard moves to actually beat half of his bosses, because he makes them so strong, it's pointless being a tank. Now, he's going to shift from piercing attacks to blunt, because it's my new weakness.

He's only out to kill me. I can't tank at all and I get tired of nearly dying every sesson.

Oh and I got cursed to have the runs, everytime I hear a certain word or phrase, which I currently do not know.

You could just stop playing in his campaign. I mean, it'll suck to not being playing in that campaign any more, but it doesn't sound entirely fun anyway, so... Honestly, that's probably why I stopped playing DnD with my friends. 4E felt too much like every day was my character's worst day ever.

Yeah, I sent him an e-mail with a solution:

Lower the attack power of his monsters and raise their defense. Fights should feel like power struggles... Honestly, every fight, at the point we're at feels like we're fighting Primevil in EO. Only levling up to 99 doesn't even remove the edge.

Also, I gave him a suggestion for the storyline that would tie in with my friend's quest to unite the four wolf tribes and give us an actual chance to battle our antagonist and meet him. If we lose this battle, he eats the god of this wolf tribe and really screws things up for my friend. My character would be angry and want payback, and so would our mage.

So I finally got my DnD campaign up running. Our party is made up of a Paladin4, Fighter2/Rogue2, Fighter3/Rogue1, Bard4, Cleric3/Wizard1 and Sorcerer4. So for the campaign is running quite smoothly. Amusingly the Cleric/Wiz has come close to death the most in the party. He invoked the wrath of an assassin NPC and was almost killed in the middle of his sleep. During the battle against a Juvenile Blue Dragon he took heavy damage from his breath attack and nearly died from fall damage trying to escape from him.

So far I think I scaled the encounters pretty, well... barring the battle against a single sorceress (I forgot to cast Mage Armor on her... so she was easy prey for the party =/). The Blue Dragon did give the party a lot of trouble but through their wit and my dice giving me critical misses at the worst times, they managed to fell the beast. To be honest, I actually didn't expect them to kill it. I was planning on having the dragon to escape after either parleying with the party or after sustaining a certain amount of damage.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't like multi-classing in the least bit, it's just adding lesser abilities of some other class to a main class you could instead be using to get better, cooler abilities, it's good and strong early levels, but during the later levels, it becomes near useless with these meh abilities you get at the beginning.

Also, at least in Pathfinder, you get the coolest, most amazing ability for that class at level 20, and when you multiclass, you're just one step away, I say this because I just started a game where a guy is multiclassing a bard and fighter. If he dies, not my pure monks fault.

I like the IDEA of multi-classing (adaptability being one of my favorite traits in a unit), but I have not seen many games where the implementation was particularly satisfying.

wanna know how i single-handedly defeated a battalion of nearly 200 orcs?

i waited for them all to be in the main hall of the fortress, walked in front of them holding the severed heads of both of their leaders, and told them all to go home

So, my character has added yet ANOTHER pair of badasses in the lore of the world, in the Campaign we're doing, that she rendered speechless with her bluntness. xD

First, we have the king who first commissioned us and how it really is his fault we're stuck doing this. Then we have the incredibly arrogant wolf god of the North Pole, who was finally able to collect his thoughts after half an hour and give a response. Then, finally, the main antagonist fought us. Now, I'll spare the extremely long summary, but the coolest moment was when he was giving this monologue and my character said,

"So, are you going to get to the point and fight us?"

He lost his train of thought and conceded that it a smartass(me) and a badass(him) cannot coexist. xD

So, I started helping friends through making characters for my first campaign. A few of them rolled high for utility items, so they got an Adventurer's Kit that allowed them to have up to 6 items inside... One of them has an unfortunate set up:

1. 8 ft of rope.
2. Tent that can fit 5 people.
3. 3 uses of Incense of Irresistable Lust. Contrary to the name, you have to DC: 15 WIS save against being debilitatingly aroused for D6 hours. OTL

We also have special character items and I wound up giving one character a magical Gourd capable of holding 40 gallons of Gin, but made it light enough to carry feasibly. The gourd also refills the night it is emptied. It gives the characters who drink a gallon 1 full day's meal, but they must DC:18 against being drunk. XD

Do any of you guys play Call of Cthulu? Because I think my GM is hosting it wrong, well, not hosting it wrong, but he makes his own campaigns, and I think he's a bit mislead in how to make them.

See, he has a lot of combat, and not very much investigating occurs at all, and when it does, it serves no purpose other than to tell us some alternate name for a monster, or some location we don't need to go to.

I hadn't felt that he was making them bad for quite a while, until our most recent campaign.

I was playing as a nun, she had a mace as her only combat weapon, after a fight or two with Mi-go, they drop these thing-a-magigs that shoot ice mist, mist projecters I think he called them. So, being in character, I decided not to take any of the things, for fear of being devilry.
Later on, a large confrontation was abound, they had shields that negated any damage my mace could have possibly done unless I got lucky, and rolled good damage after a critical. After the campaign, I start to think about this, and tell my GM, and he tells me that it's my fault because I didn't take the mist projector. I was lead to believe Call of Cthulu was more about the investigation, and the fact that battles are few so that they can build up the threat. Or am I just salty because my pious nun character is useless?

Everything I have heard about CoC (and the little Lovecraft I have read) indicates that combat should be avoided at all costs, and that the build up to the mind-braking revelation is a core theme. So yeah, it sounds like he's doing it "wrong".

I had a long conversation with a friend-of-a-friend last night about lots of different PnP systems. A key theme of the conversation is how every system is built around a certain genre or meta-genre (or some other word I can't currently recall) and how that effects the rules of the system. He talked a lot about his experience with the Fate system, and I talked a lot about the homebrew system I've been developing.
