*Agrees with ziron* The way you type up on the internet in a general chat session doesn't generally reflect your grades/skill in english or journalism. You have only to look at me to see this. I've been writing since I was in third grade, state testing in english in fifth indicated my IQ in english was much higher than the other students. The writing aptitude test I took a year ago was a synch and I made the highest marks on it. And my journalism teachers wish they could get me more interested in writing newspaper articles (I was the one who often finished first in the class when given an hour and half to write up an article with a few facts and then asked to come up with questions I had followed up on or made some calls about).

^ And then you look at a junk of writing like that from me and... you'd swear I'd never passed third grade english. -_-;

I think it's often times more in the way I edit than my actual first draft material. I know better than anyone where my common english mistakes are and I'm not afraid to "cut the crap" and realize that my words are not godly devices on paper and that often the setence that I think is "OMG THAT'S AWESOME" is the one that doesn't need to be in work.

BTW ziron - -_- APEnglish is the worst. Ugg, I dropped it just 'cause I got tired of the work. Plus, I don't think the teacher liked me. It's the first time in my life I EVER made constant C's in an english class. What's ironic is the final timed aptitude test that was sent off to the state to be graded - I got the second highest grade in the class. When I went on to continue the class (since it was cut into two parts) and learned I had the same teacher, I dropped it and returned back to regular english classes. It turned the C from the class into a B and I went back to making As for the rest of my high school life.

My SAT scores was a 1970 - 710 in math but a 580 in critical reading. I was told by my friend to take the ACT's because they are geared better for test takers.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with my parents for doing that. They wanted to keep me close by. I just wanted to get out -- didn't care where. I'd eyeballed Colorado State since I had an online friend in the area... but it was not to be.
It drove me crazy to never know what scholarships I could have gotten, but I have a state scholarship that pays for my tuition at any Oklahoma school. So I just threatened to apply to the "rival" school until they at least agreed I could live in the dorms. I lost the battle but won the war. -_-
Although I'll never know how it might have turned out otherwise, I'm ultimately glad I attended school here. I met my boyfriend, was able to keep my same job, and made some good friends eventually.

But I'm still moving out of the stupid state as soon as I graduate.

And people like you are the reason I want to be a history teacher. I want to revolutionize the way it's taught and make it as fascinating for my students I myself find it. No needless memorization, but rather and integrating and understanding of a unique time period and the culture, society and events that shaped it. You don't need to know anything other than rough century for pre-modern history anyway (well, okay, you really should know the French Revolution was 1789 since that's a huge deal and clefts history into "Modern" and "Pre-modern" but >_> anyway.)
