I would lie about my asthma being more critical than it really was just to skip any sort of physical school work. And fuel my rather young caffeine addiction.

Not that I am lazy. During high school I woke up very early every day to train, and on some days I would not even go where ever home was just so I can keep training.

... to play up asthma... just to be lazy? .... I dunno whether to be angry with you or envy you that you could have that option.


(edit: to clarify since I don't want some huge misunderstanding, I'm not "seriously" angry with you, but it was just a pause where I was like "REALLY?! JERK!" and then I was like "*sigh* must be nice....". It's feelings I wanted to share not to be negative or accusatory but because they are honest feelings I had when I read that post.)

^_^; Like I said, I'm not really passing judgement. I absolutely despised PE myself, particularly in high school. Even in middle school sitting out for that one year wasn't so much of a big deal if it just hadn't seemed to single me out even more from the crowd.

It was just my raw feelings. To play up a sickness that I go through such difficulties with. o_o the other day I saw someone JOGGING.... here I am, breathing through my scarf, the air cutting my lungs like knives, and this person was JOGGING.

^_^ It just took me by surprise to read that someone would play up my breathing problems just to be lazy. Haha, I never get that option because usually mine are legitimate concerns.

Not that I should be complaining. Other than the minor "OMG TOO COLD, CAN'T BREATHE" sensation, thing have went real smooth this year so far. No attacks. Which is good... I've got to get a new inhaler since mine expired... But see ^_^ even that is kinda wonderful in itself. My inhaler is EXPIRED... EXPIRED! OMG IT EXPIRED!! It's not "empty" but "expired". ..... :3 Cherish the little things, right?

The reason why they will not question me when I opt out of classes due to asthma, is because I have a medical notice that specifies that I am not forced into any form of physical exertion. So more accurately, one could say I abused this grant.

Asthma has almost killed me several times in my life, so I know about the difficulties you face. I just seemed to outgrow it around my later teenage years. Ever now and then it still bothers me, but not enough to go for a jog with someone or climb. If I know I am going to do something ridiculous, I take decent enough preventative measures in order to maintain easy breathing. Yoga helps as well.

Aww, I see. Yeah, that's the sort of doctor's excuse I had after the one year of no-performance (I can't remember if it was one full year or just half a semester. My memory is foggy). In High school after I moved, my asthma was much more in balance to where I didn't even bother to seek out a doctor's advice to see if I would need something like this. I just made the teacher aware and everything was kosher.

I can't say, though, my asthma has ever "nearly killed me". I think you've one up'ed me on that (as if this were a contest). Mine was just very prohibiting. Never a near death scenario except for the time I woke up one night unable to breathe and later that night was diagnosed with pneumonia. My asthma has really only ever been "moderate". I just wish I had outgrown it as much as most people seem to be able to do. Still, there is nothing like the sensation of feeling like an elephant is sitting on your chest. Maybe not life threatening, but still too frightening even on the best of days.

I remember once actually getting kinda combative with the doctors but I was just so sure that that stupid albuterol treatment was not working. Four nurses, a doctor, and my dad had to work hard to persuade me to even bother at first. After taking a few puffs and practically puking up a whole bunch of that phlegm crap the combativeness left. Two treatments, a looooong wait, and another treatment after that. I dunno if that counts as "life threatening". I don't think so, but then, I'm still not sure to this day why I really wanted to fight the doctors on the whole issue. I'm the one who told my dad to take me to the ER.

But I also REALLY hate the treatments. -_- they make me feel so... shaky. I can breathe but at the cost of feeling like I'm drugged up on ten cups of coffee. I HATE HATE that feeling.

^ Stronger lungs fail less. I think it's easiest to use some resistance-machine in my own home. Like a stationary bike-thing, which I guess is a misnomer if it isn't really bicyclic.

If you put it right in the livingroom or something, it's placed maybe three seconds out of your immediate reach much of the time.

I used to play up my laziness just to be lazy.

You guys might want to read the post that I made in the school topic. It's my heads up that if I start to post a whole lot less on these forums, you'll know why. ^_^; Just a heads up.

A recurring problem with stupider people having more money is a noticeable lack of planning.

Although in fairness, there wasn't a plan this time because I was expected to inform myself and sort it out on my own.
