Hello! I This is my first post so I would like to introduce myself.
First of all im 28 years old and have been playing video games since before i was even in school. I mainly play RPG's (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Runescape) and i have always had a deep LOVE for oldschool games. I enjoy the Retro RPG's way more than the new ones. For example: My favorite game of all time is the original Final Fantasy II (IV) for SNES. (the DS version RULES!!!)
Anyway, I found out about Etrian Odyssey by surfing the net for games that were similar to Eye of the Beholder for the PC. (Btw, Wouldnt it be awesome if ATLUS remade EoB 1-3 in one game for the DS and added the cartography like in EO?) THAT WOULD BE THE DAY I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN!! When i came across the game i knew immediatly that i would love it, just by looking at the screenshots. I also thought it was about time someone added a "Map it yourself" option in a game! So i checked every local store to no avail. Finally i found it on ebay for about 25$ and EOII for about 30 so i picked them both up. I havnt even touched EO2 yet, so i have A LOT of catching up with everyone!!
Im currently on F5, about to go after Fenrir. I made one of each character and I have been grinding them all fairly evenly. I will switch characters around and train them just in case i need them on a later floor. So far the Alchemist is my favorite class. (Im a sucker for mages) but i think that later down the road it will change.
Anyway thats enough about me, Im glad to have found this forum and hope to enjoy chatting with everyone as much as I love playing EO!

Glad to see another gamer that was able to get their hands on the first EO. It's also nice to see someone else who played video games nearly since birth (like myself XD) and has remained faithful to old-school series.
The Alchemist will get you to the end of the main game, so your favorite class should stay helpful for the time being XD
(It's the post game areas that make the Alchemist less useful, and the Protector the most useful)

Well, the major game itself ends at Floor 25.
However, (and this is going to be VERY SLIGHTLY spoilerish depending on how ignorant you like to keep yourself):
Brief Post-Game explanation:
The game continues on for five more floors. In addition to quests and material. This section is refered to as "post game". The enemies are 3x harder and the bosses are far harder than even the main boss.
It's VERY evil and VERY VERY brutal. 'Cause even regardless of enemies and bosses, the floors themselves are extremely irritating and really make you think... or throw your system across the room.
Welcome to the forums, Xeranath! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Hey there Xeranath! Glad to have ya on board. :] Anyone for an appreciation of retro gaming earns much love in my heart! So FFIV is good, huh? I'm so hesitant to buy it for some reason. I've never played it and I missed the SNES original (didn't miss FFV and FFVI, though!) so I'm awfully curious. Glad you're enjoying Etrain Odyssey. Mage characters are always great but my style has always been supporters. :D
Lawl @ Runescape. Oh God the memories go back. I remember when it was pretty new and I shared it with everyone in middle school and it became extremely popular, enough that they made a rule against it 'coz everyone kept using the computers to play it! Back then, being my first MMORPG (I went on to play many more), it was Godlike. I was like "WOW THIS IS AWESOME!" Looking at it today, it seems so horrible. T____T
