Hi! I'm not a particularly experienced player of Etrian Odyssey, only getting into it recently because of its limited presence in Europe but I am eagerly waiting for Untold and considering buying an original DS because no region lock.
I am also an aspiring (amateur) concept artist so I'll show most of my activity in the Legends and Artwork forum.

So um... maybe this deserves to be on the rant thread? iunno... but... i apologize for my sudden and.... heck if i even know how long disappearance....
Frankly... without going into a whole lotte detail, everything i thought was stable is kinda in shambles atm soo... yeah..

Hi Delta! Welcome to ItL
You know you can play any region's DS games on any 3DS, right? The region-locking only applies to 3DS games and the eShop. So no need to buy a DS if you already have a 3DS.

Yep it's not region locked. My copy of EO1 is a US version and it plays fine

Okay, hello, everyone, I'm Micromeichi, a perfectly sane, mild-mannered Etrian Odyssey fan- you know what, forget it
I WAS CRYING TEARS OF JOY WHEN I FOUND THIS PLACE.. TEARS. OF. JOY.
My best online friend and I are the only Etrian Odyssey fans I thought existed today, until I decided to look for a EOU walk through (as I had restarted that game on Classic as the ho-hum story mode was getting on my nerves.) Then HELLO! Into the Labyrinth showed it's beautiful face. Now, after raving on Google+ and lurking for approximately 20 minutes, I finally signed up.
This friend I mentioned earlier, I wil be getting her to sign up. Oh I will. I got her into the series, and we have roleplayed an epic SAGA based off EOIV and EOIII, as we both have played the former and she has played the later. I might turn it into a story, as there was some good stuff in there.
Now, you can thank Legends of the Titan and the Nintendo eShop. I was browsig the eShop one day, when I saw this in the demo section-
"Etrian Odyssey IV - Legends of the Titan"
20 minutes later, I was in love. I begged and begged to get it, and April 13th, 2013, was I met with my prize. Now, August 30th, 2013, I had finished said game and hyped up for EOU.
April 25, 2014 - I have successfully gotten 2 people into this fandom, I'll call it, and just now ragequited EOU's Story Mode.

Welcome to ItL!
Haha, that's quite an enthusiastic introduction. Glad to see you've found us at last. I hope you'll enjoy the forum. The EO sections are a little quiet between releases, but there are always some people ready to answer questions.
As for EOU, what's worng with Story mode? I agree that fixed characters aren't really fitting for the series, but I liked the extra background it gives to the EO world and EO1 in particular.
Are you going to play EO2 and EO3 as well?
