^_^ at the risk of starting that previous debate: I will state again, King is a BRILLIANT imagineer. He comes up with these wild ideas and thoughts and plots, but when he writes... it's almost painful to read his material for me. If his editors AT LEAST told him "umm, hey King, don't you think you've already gone into enough detail about who this random character is fucking that has NOTHING to do with plot" (as in The Green Mile when it was explaining the deaths of the girls and the big hunt... what do I care who the mayor was fucking?) It would help. or "Hey, King, your character is kinda pathetically cookie-cutter, even a little stereo-typical... racist?" (every character in the Green Mile) And his endless descriptions and trying to be... cute with his wording. Like he's giving himself a challenge: how many odd vocabulary words can I use before I lose my audience?

and King loves the magic negro/retard trope (Green Mile, Dreamcatcher, etc)
And no, I'm not linking to TV tropes. Because I love you.
So I'm about 250 pages into a Feast for Crows and I've hit a wall. I just don't care about too many of the narrators. I'm really getting through to get through it at this point. le sigh.

TV Tropes is a cursed abomination that never ends.
Never.

Meh. It ends sometimes. Sometimes I'm there to keep someone company. Sometimes the links don't lead me to anything interesting. :\ It's a gamble.

I try to stay away from TV Tropes dives, but it can be a fantastic site for networking and researching a title you want to read/watch.
Because of this I think it's a neat, if unexpected, way to promote a work.
Also Maxine and Kino, I agree about King. I mean I respect all the writing he's done, but . . . well you pretty much said it.
@Kino: This occurs to me. Tell me, would you agree that Havemercy probably has quite a bit of inspiration from Fullmetal Alchemist in it?

I haven't done much surfing of that site. It wass good for a few laughs but I never went back. Even if I went back now I'd prolly just follow that same pattern.

Half of TV Tropes just bothers me. Becoming less and less about interesting and amusing tropes and more about just trying to cram in everyone's trivial experiences and tropes that are really not worth detailing. May as well start a new entry with everything that has walking in it.

brb making a article with every example of walking in media
also can you list a couple examples?
ANd currently reading Thief of Time, which apparently helps explain some of the time craziness in the series (like Small Gods).

I love reading TV Tropes for the sense of reading about ... well, tropes. The meta knowledge of it all. A lot of examples feel contrived but damned if I don't just like how eloquently put many of the entries are that make them sound so much more awesome/HNNNNGH/d'awwww/wtf?/NIGHTMAREFUEL than they really are. I've rewatched/reread things just because of how awesome the TV Tropes entry sounded compared to my memory of the events and they were glorious.
