I'm not familiar enough with Fullmetal Alchemist to make that judgement call. The only thing I know about FMA is the basic premise. It's not really my thing.

I'm starting to really miss having access to Oklahoma State's huge university library. I could find a decent amount of sources for pretty much any topic I wanted to work on. The city library didn't have the same vast academic focus, but it was still decently equipped and could get some cursory subjects covered. The library system here is extremely scattered since Norfolk has 12 branches. It's easy enough to go online and browse and request books to a specific branch but, still, it's rather irksome that I can't browse the selections in person... and the non-fiction selection is remarkably limited.

So I was surfing around on my nook this morning and realized o_o oooh, they updated the Teen section of the search so that it now has its own individual categories - like FANTASY. Surfing through it I discovered the title EONA (book two) by Alison Goodman.

Backstory -- My sister and I have been drooling over EON (the first book) for quite some time, but it was not offered on the nook and I've been too busy with it to bother with paperbacks again for a while.

SO! I was like o_o "IF YOU HAVE THE SECOND ONE YOU MUST HAVE THE FIRST ONE!!" Did a quick search and yep :3 the series is now offered on the nook. Yay!!

BUT! Even after finishing Goblin War last night I had eight current read books. So I decided that I'm not going to purchase it until I finish at least 3 of those books.

I finished Temeraire book 5 today, so I have two more. I'm thinking I'm going to finish up The Red Pyramid and after that probably Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Or Magyk somewhere in there since it's a library book that I had waited for to read. I also decided to move the current Dark Hunter book I'm on off the list (won't count it though) since I've not been in the mood to read it. Too much sex, not a lot of action, and I'm getting bored with it. I'll probably pick it up again later.

Uggg, I wanna read EON... -_-; *sigh*

I really enjoyed Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic quartet.

Yes, yes yes! Got the recent Dresden Files book, Ghost Story. Also got Catch-22, been meaning to own it.

Hrrrm... The Red Pyramid is not agreeing with me. I love the characters but I'm not into the whole Egyptian thing and it's turning me off a little... Then shit started happening and for two seconds I SWEAR that I was reading the series The Immortal Nicholas Flammel (which book 3 has been on the back burner for some time now since my fave char and only reason for reading as disappeared... come back Scathach!!)

I'm going to try, though. But it's just missing the fun elements I love about Riordan's Olympian series... I mean... Jason and his coin-toss weapon(s) :3

BUT I have FAITH... I'll continue... because certainly the guy that can come up with flaming-flying-broken-down-metal dragon CANNOT let me down.

Lemme know how you like Strange Fortune. I have it on my wishlist at Powell's but have refrained from ordering it, for whatever reason.

And, yes, Melusine. I bite my nails anxiously to hear your reaction.

I finished a Feast for Crows and am starting a Dance with Dragons.

Lots of eye-twitching at the split geography premise. Did I just hallucinate that I mean I get the reasoning, but it's still eye-twitch worthy.

:3 Starting to get more and more into Red Pyramid. It's not nearly half as great as Percy Jackson, but it's decent. Every now and again, though, I STILL feel like I'm reading Nicholas Flammel...

Oh man, that ending in Ghost Story, it just keeps piling up.

Not surprised, honestly, at your criticisms. I'll hold off on it for now -- maybe if I luck out and find a used copy I'll grab it, or if I get desperate. I'm sitting comfortably on enough unread books that it isn't a pressing concern.

Yes, absolutely. I find that series incredibly intimidating. Few books have touched me the way that one did. When I finished Corambis, the final book, I felt crushed, almost heartsick. I think I even wrote here on the forum about my malaise. There have been books I've stayed up all night to finish, books that stayed in my thoughts long afterward, but rarely has a series so completely dominated my soul the way that the Doctrine of Labyrinths did. Intense is the right word for it, absolutely.

I own Dragon Soul, but only read a tiny bit of it. I've mentioned before that the brothers in Havemercy are the poor man's Felix and Mildmay, and that fact alone prevents me from enjoying their story. None of the narrators in Dragon Soul interested me, and I had a hard enough time finishing Shadow Magic. I honestly don't know if I'll pick up the next book*. I almost feel like it might ruin Havemercy for me.

As for my own reading... still on Dance with Dragons. Honestly ready to be done with this series so I can start one of the new books I got in from Powell's the other day. I have Counterpoint, the Prisoner, and Downtime to pick from.
