Oh, right, I forgot that Breaking Dawn's released...I'm sort of apathetic about the Twilight series, but I guess I'll get Breaking Dawn to round out my collection...I don't like having incomplete series...gives me a funny feeling.
I recently finished reading Ballad of a Shinigami, volume 2. Daiki is still my favorite character, even though he only appeared once. XD He makes a vague sort of cameo in the third story with the orphaned girl and her art teacher, though...

New Moon
Meh, I'm kinda getting mad at this book at the moment. I kinda knew that something like this was going to happen, that Edward would leave her, but, meh... damn... the emo... the emo... and while I get the sense that the werewolves section is coming up, it's little enough to keep me interested in a book as werewolves don't always excite the hell out of me. But, I'm keeping confidence and trying to get through it knowing that the vampires will, no doubt, return, and that the werewolf thing will probably be an interesting turn.
On the other hand, at the same time, I think I'm kinda enjoying the way Bella is going. A motorbike... wanting to go cliff jumping... LOL, she's like "FUCK YOU, EDWARD! COME SAVE ME NOW, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" though she's doing it all just to have a moment's worth of hallucination.
:3 I honestly can't wait until Edward returns and he's like "You did WHAT?!"
I wish my job were as fun as yours Kino.

*mutters* I know the one huge spoiler since my sister's friend gave it away to the both of us while she was staying the night last night.
Breaking Dawn spoiler
she turns into a vampire
Meh, but I don't know the details and... XD we both yelled at the poor girl. She felt so bad.
Meh, the second book was downright BORING. The series has a little life in it and I'd probably continue reading anyway but, yeah, definitely not the "sensational series of my life". I'll probably be a while before I pick up the third and fourth. I think I'm in the mood for something else.
I have Regina's Song by David Eddings to complete
I also have to finish the third book of the Elenium series by him. I also have the first book in The Dreamer's series by him (he's my favorite author... WHY haven't I finished these?)
Plus I have a Brian Jacques Redwall book but, I think my fad with talking animals with swords has passed, plus, the guy's writing has just really gone downhill these days.
Then I have Forever Odd by Dean Koontz which is what I'm leaning towards reading.

So, I bought the final two books of the Twilight series and am halfway through the third one, which is (I'm happy to say) FAR better than the second one, and better than the first in some ways but I still wish she would just push it further.
I'm in the middle of reading Forever Odd. Nowhere near as good as the first one, but still VERY enjoyable. :3 I'm glad that I saved it and I feel quite content. I bought the next book Brother Odd as I plan to be finished with it soon. Anyone else a fan of Dean Koontz?

Akarshi... XD omg LOVE.
Breaking Dawn:
Yeah I think you discovered why the last book ruined the whole series for me. I keep running into fangirls at work who are all OMG YEAH and I'm just like "ummm no"
First of all, WTF with the preggers? Has Edward never masturbated?? Did he really not stop to think "Ya know, even though I'm a vampire I still shoot sperm. Maybe I should plug my baby-maker before porking my human wife!"
REALLY NOW.
This book sets a terrible example for teens. It's okay to get knocked up, teenage brides, so long as you're married and LUUUUUVV each other.
If I'd been Bella, I'd a been like "Yes, please cut this monster-baby out of me. kthx."
And WTF is what every single stupid author having to use cutesy "meaningful" family names?? LIKE WTF! Rowling, here's looking at you. Meyer, just wtf? 'Edward Jacob'? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? This isn't fanfiction, goddammit.
And don't even get me started on Renesmee and what a fuck-stupid name that is for [s]Mary Sue[/s] Bella's oh-so-special and previous dunpeal-baby. That stupid perfect intelligent lolibaby!
Yes. WTF. WTF. Jacob imprinting?? I've always HATED the Edward/Jacob triangle because it's based only on Bella's spineless indecision and cruelty. I don't care if he's your BFF, Bella, he's totally head-over-heels for you and it's just cruel to string him along. You should have cut him off the day you settled on Edward. Make 'm your freaking pen pal if you have to.
It was creepy enough with whats-his-face (Quil? Embry? Fuck 'em) rolling around on the sand with HIS loli-bride. I'd just be like "Oh, love of my life is a toddler? Cool. See you in about 15 years!" And that stupid "Toddler speech" that Meyer wrote made me gag. Sounded like something a 14-year-old fanfic'r would write.
The whole Jacob-imprint miracle special baby... yeah. YEAH. WTF.
These whole books reek of fanfiction. Former/current fic'r here, I can totally call it. Rowling's epilogue bullshit in book 7 was the exact same succumbing to fandom.

*decides to read even if it will spoil things for her 'cause she's not seriously impressed with the series THAT much to care*
I don't see what was so wrong with the imprinting discussion. I thought it was weird, but honestly, I felt it was along some other lines: betrothed at birth. ^_^; I've written a story similar to that. My dude was about 15 and was automatically betrothed to this girl from some family following a tradition. Hell, even in Disney's opening of the cartoon Sleeping Beauty, the boy was at least a noticeable 10 years old and was promised to the child. But, I haven't gotten past the mid of the third book so I am not sure what scene you are refering to and if it goes past that.
As for sinking into fandom, I don't think there's anything wrong with that either. I, for one, write my stories of children with my friends in mind that I hope I will have one day. I have all sorts of secrets penned carefully in my binder and twisting tales that will be sure to make fans go *squeee*. Hell, I'm even planning to release one book of another series of children that takes place AFTER one series and reveals that set of children's future. If that doesn't make sense, I'll explain it at the bottom of the post that you can ignore.
And I miss your argument about "getting knocked up". Bella isn't a 'teen'. In my book she's already nearing 19, so I'm going to guess she is at least 20 when she marries? My own parents married at 18 (right after graduating) and I was conceived a year later. *shrugs* My parents then made the great sacrifice in order to support me by joining the Navy. They were responsible and they did what they had to, and just recently they celebrated their 25th anniversary (and even cuter, my dad wasn't content to buy her a simple bouquet of roses for the occasion, but a rose bush to plant in her yard) - and there's only one time in my life that I can think of that they came close to a divorce and that hardly lasted more than a few months. And out of us three sisters, only Clarissa was "planned". Explain this one a little better as I'd love to hear what's so wrong about it. They were married. They loved each other. I can see the outrage if they had sex BEFORE marriage and graduation. I'd write any similar scene into my own story.
edit: sorry, I got called away, let me finish this post, as I promised.
First, my comments above were made merely out of the knowledge that I probably know crap about what you guys are talking about but am curious enough to voice my opinion. If you think I should read first and then comment, by all means tell me, but those are my opinions there for the world to see for the moment.
As for the comment on my story (boring and not necessary to read unless you really ARE that curious):
My stories are called The Little Questors and have characters from 9 to 16 years old ... 17 and 18 is pushing it. Once they are past that age, I have little interest in having them as main characters because THEY AREN'T LITTLE QUESTORS. That being said, though, they will have other ways of appearing.
There's a timeline and my books are written about a set of children in that periodical timeline. For example I have my first set that I call Maxine and company, even if some of the books don't HAVE Maxine in them. Before that, though, is Lee and his pixie friend, Fairy and company - takes place many years before Maxine, and again might not have Lee or Fairy in them, BUT Lee will appear as a character in the Maxine-books BUT :3 I'm only making it a squee event later in the one of the two series about WHICH character Lee has grown up to be in the Maxine set. Likewise, Maxine will appear, fully grown along with the other characters in a future series. There's several revelations that I want to make in the future series as to "what someone becomes" BEFORE I write about it in the main Maxine series. Sort of like a "Maxine marries so-and-so, now read this Maxine-book to find out HOW it happened" (this is a pure for-instance and not what happens and isn't as squee inducing as it's going to be).
And because the series is going to be so expansive, I'd like to write one-book series that star special children I hope to find as fans to give my fandom a place in the books special to them :3 at least I hope and pray that I can do something like that. XD It would be kewl to be exchanging letters to a Mary-Sue and then to include her as a surprise guest or MC in a book. Haha, but that might be my imagination going wild and ahead of itself.
... Sorry, obviously... I'm writing tonight, and I'm a little full of my stories. /Boring Narcissistic Story Rant
Imprinting:
Well, it works like the ultimate Love at First Sight kind of thing, not a betrothal. There's a difference between "Okay, I'm gonna marry this baby when it grows up" and "This baby is my soulmate and I'm going to make it a promise ring"
Miracle halfVampire-baby is also psychic and super intelligent and grows quickly. So the baby knows about "Her Jacob" and the two of them have a "bond" due to the imprinting.
Jacob is in love with an infant. He hangs around this infant all the time. The infant is psychically aware of his feeling and reciprocates.
It's so creepy!
Fanfiction and legitimate series:
I'm talking about the fanfiction that bleeds amateur like it's going out of style. The kind where Mary Sue MainCharacter shows up out of nowhere and starts snogging Inu Yasha because she's SOOOO beautiful and SOOO unique and kewl.
Basically, the miracleBaby and Bella both show major signs of Mary Sue-ism in the last book.
And, I'm sorry, but naming your baby "Resnesmee" because you're mother and mother-in-law are Renee and Esme? FUCK ME THATS SO STUPID.
Same stupid as "EJ" for a boy -- Edward Jacob.
I hate hate hate whenever authors pull that kind of BS. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm named for my great-grandmother and my middle name is the same as my grandmother's -- but if I'd been named under the Bella way I'd be Blanclema.
Yeah. Not happening.
Fuck you, Resnesmee. You have the stupidest name ever.
And... "Knocked up"
I'm not pulling my punches here. Bella and Edward were stupid about it. They're a modern, 21-century couple. Edward should have taken three seconds to go "Hey wait. My baby-maker shoots jizz like omg WOW when I jack off. Better rubber that just in case"
Especially since in their case a pregnancy would be bad news. Even without clairvoyant Alice around, any moron could realize Human + Vampire = baby would probably be dangerous for all parties.
These are books read by young teenagers. They're fantasy escapist romantic drivel. If Bella and Edward had just been foolin' around and she ended up pregnant -- hey, fair deal, accidents happen, it's cool.
But they knew they'd be shacking on the honeymoon. They'd been planning it for AGES.
They should have brought protection. Bella's still a fertile squishy human.
Bottom line: the books aren't terrible necessarily, just terribly disappointing.
Although...
I do like her vampiric rules. I always love "vegetarian vampires" when they're done well.
And Alice is just fucking awesome. I liked it better to imagine that she saw Jasper + Volturri = dead!Jasper -- and so she just grabbed him and marched him into the Pacific ocean. I imagined that she tied him to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Turns out I was wrong. Damn.
Really. Alice/Jasper stuff is just awesome.

^_^; Well, for what it's worth, even if I don't agree with all your opinions, I can appreciate how vehement you are about them and find it very cute. I DO agree with the naming thing and look forward to the Alice/Jasper stuff.
And I really don't care about the Bella stuff since I can't stand Bella to begin with.

Well. XD I have no response to that I guess!
And, yeah, Bella.
Have you seen the Twilight movie trailer? Here:

Yeah. Yeah.
When I read Eclipse they were CASTING for this movie. So, this is definitely a rush job. It looks so terrible. "I'm only afraid of losing you" isn't quite so bad as "hold me, ani, like you did at the lake at naboo" but it's close.
Sigh. And from what I've seen of pics and such, Alice has chin-length hair. I always assumed it was MUCH short than that since in her origin story... yeah.
Right now I'm reading:
Plato's Republic
Open Empire: A History of China to 1600
Chinese Civilization Sourcebook
and browsing various wedding books in between.
Yay for class.
