Oh, my other purchase yesterday aside from that game: the sequal to Wizard's First Rule. So, I'm spending time today and tomorrow finishing up the first book (I stopped reading 'cause I HATE HATE cliff hangers.... doesn't ask about my logic) and moving on to the second.

:3 Totally enjoyed "Mistress Denna" section. This author just won't stop at anything, will he?

Welcome to another round of torture with Harry Potter
Please don't get me wrong, I like the series.
Tomorrow, however, I get to babysit 2 of my little cousins (5 & 6 yrs old).
They always want me to read Harry Potter to them. (That is, the Dutch translation. blèrgh!)
I almost don't need the book anymore...

Do the houses get renamed funny Dutch words?

In the French edition they are:
Gryffondor - Gryffindor
Serdaigle - Ravenclaw
Serpentard - Slytherin
Poufsouffle - Hufflepuff
at Poudlard (Hogwarts) and sorted by le Choixpeau.

I have books 3 and 4 in French. ^_^ I'd like to own the whole series in French. I also have book 1 in Latin.

o_o and Charlotte's Web in Latin.

A ridiculous "prophecy" that the main character gets to have 3 love interests. Yes, that's right. And they're all sort of fine with sharing him. But it isn't like a polyamorous relationship, he just sort of moves from one to the other. Like he spends the first 2-3 books romancing Girl 1, and then a few more books with Girl 2, and then Girl 3. I never read the newest books, so I don't know if they all get together or what. I want the 5 months I spent reading that series back, plz. kthx.

Gah, that series is so misogynistic. I swear Robert Jordan hates women.

No, I disagree. I have only read The Eye of the World myself, but it really just felt as if the guy was making a statement that men and women should NOT be thought of as equally and most of his women were either stupid or WAY too deceitful.

The most I got out of the books was that the magic in them was beautiful and the worlds were well thought out, but the guy definitely had some serious issues with prejudice. It wasn't even the women, either, but how he really just divided many of his cultures apart from each other. But, I haven't read the book in years.

"Empowers women"? Hardly. Who ever said that was hoping to just pull a wool over people's eyes.
