@Wheel of Time

How far did you get in the series, Seni?

I made it to book 10 before I just stopped reading.

All the women are terrible shrews who are treated poorly by the author -- they have shallow differences that, as the series progresses, meld them into one WOMAN character. By book 10, you could just swap the names around and never notice a difference. They all act the same, talk the same, etc etc.
UGH.
I actually enjoyed the first book. Well thought out world, I like the whole Dragon Pretender theme (reminds me of the False Dmitri...s)

@Sword of Truth
Maxine, that's my favorite part, too!
Actually...
I like when Richard tells her why he asked that, and then she quietly orders him to draw a bath. She gives him the apple, and even lets him sleep in the bed <3

GAAAAH I loooooooove the Mord-Sith. Damn you, read further in the series!! GAH! You're only at book 2! GAH! GAH! READ FASTER!
@Harry Potter
hahahahaha Zwerkbal! That's awesome.

I wonder what the Japanese names are. Like, do they insert the honorifics? HM.

Other news:
I need to pick a book (or two) to bring on the plane. Last time I flew I ended up reading The Bone Doll's Twin and Hidden Warrior by Lynn Flewelling (LOVE!).
I'm either going to bring a book off my "Gay sci fi" backlog (I went crazy at a used book site and got a ton of them) or strip a new book from work. I'm tempted to strip 2 books, because then I won't mind if they get banged up during travel.

^_^ I'm trying, Kino! I'm trying!

:3 Aww, how the heck can we possibly have the same favorite part in a book.

@Book 2:
Ewww, I'm at the part where this nameless Sister of [s]Light[/s] Dark has ordered a guy to skin his friend and then go fuck this poor innocent teen girl to corrupt her. I don't know who I feel more sorry for, the guy or the girl. I guess this means, though, that without a doubt Richard is probably going to give in to the Sisters since I don't think the author would go to the trouble of showing this scene and setting this up if nothing was going to happen anyway.

So far my second favorite part in this book: Shota crying. I really love Shota for some reason and I believe that, even if she did fulfill her promise of needing to kill Richard's child, she would probably do it with a lot of regret, but like Kahlan, she will do what has to be done.

Favorite part in the book so far: was in the first few chapters. Rachel vs the screeling. :3 I'm sorry. I just LOVE Rachel so much. <3 I love her I love her I love her. ^_^ I'm SO glad that Terry decided to keep her around and not be killed. Rachel vs Chase is some of the more hilarious scenes, too.

Ugg, I'm just so in love with this book series. I really am. I think I'm more a fan of it than I was Harry Potter.
@Stone of Tears Chapter 16
FUCK!! ......

That was an AWESOME chapter but...

DAMMIT!!!

....... :( Denna... I love you even more.... it's not fair! It's not fair! She spent her life faced with torture! Now what has she got to look forward to? An eternity of death faced with torture! ....... >_< DAMMIT, RICHARD, YOU BETTER FIND A WAY TO KILL THIS FUCKING KEEPER-BASTARD!!

... How did I NOT see this happening? As soon as it said "Darken Rahl" was standing there, it clicked: OH SHIT! ... I feel as stupid as Richard feels. Usually I'm on top of things like this but this one totally escaped me.

Denna and Kahlan meeting... that was priceless. This is my new favorite scene. Sorry, Rachel. You're just going to have to do better to top this one.
*takes a deep breathe* Okay... sorry... I just had to rant about that.

@chapter 16:
I had to grab my copy to double-check what what means you have and have not read.

Ooh, remember the Screeling song that Kahlan told Richard about? The image of little Kahlan in the Keep and the Wizards all huddled around a book, and then drinking... XD Priceless. I forgot how much I like that scene.

XD Chandalen, and Richard waving around that head with an arrow in it. Hehehe.

Aaaand... yeah. Denna. Sad face.
I think you're going to like Stone of Tears. I had a bit of the same beef with Wizard's First Rule -- the whole quest thing. Although...
I do love the scene in which Richard's friends all see him as Darken Rahl, and he's looking through their things and screaming about the box. :3

Boooo Richard's brother. BOOOOO
@My Job

hehehehehe! I don't work in the book department anymore -- I'm a manager now. I don't get nearly as many fun stories, but the book department was just filled with bad attitude and frustrating assignments, so I'm happier working up front.
But I think you'd be great for a bookstore. Most of them give good discounts, too! For example at my job I get about 40% off books. That means I get manga for like $6! It's awesome.

Have you been watching that Legend of the Seeker thing? I watched the first like 10 minutes and then couldn't watch anymore. I think last week or something they had Denna on it:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/52149/legend- ... eker-denna
Just watch the first like... 30 seconds. It opens with Denna.
...
I watched a bit more than that, and I regret it. I know they aren't following the story that closely, but WTF? Just skip ahead to the 2nd to last break (Our mutual Favorite scene, butchered) and watch.... like one more minute. WTF.
If you don't want to do it, I'll summarize:
Kahlan shows up (WTF? Aren't they in D'Hara?), and threatens Denna. And apparently there's another Confessor alive! ANOTHER CONFESSOR. Then Kahlan starts Matrix-time-freeze-style attacking everyone and throws a knife at Denna. Richard pushes her away and grabs her Agiel to wield it against Kahlan. Then I turned it off.

ETA: I skipped around, and WTF! WTF! Richard kills Denna very shortly after Kahlan shows up. He just turns the sword white, and rams it through her. They totally ruined Denna's like entire thing! She's all willing and loving and he's all tender, and they... they make love and... ;____; Poor Denna! TV sucks the fun out of everthing.
Incidentally, they pronounce "Kahlan" like "Kay-lynn" whereas I've always said "Kuh-lawn"
(this might be because of my terrible okie accent)

@Kahlan pronunciation: XD Kino, I pronounce it the same way!

@TV series:
No, I have no intention of ever watching it. I have the book with the movie-cover for WFR and looking at Kahlan... I hate the way the character looks to portray her. That's now how I envision Kahlan whatsoever. And movies always suck compared to the books. I have no hope. It's why I plan to NEVER NEVER allow a movie to be made of my movies. Though, honestly, for TLQ, I think I see it more as a cartoon ^_^ (anime or whatever). There's just things like my characters being trapped inside a glass ball spell with dragons tossing it between themselves and playing with it that just doesn't sound like it would translate well with real live characters. I mean real life physics suggests my characters would probably not be alive after such an exchange. XD

But seriously, movies/series/whatever are always forced to condense time and because they can't get into characters' heads the way a book can, there's a limit to what they can do. I've never been satisfied with the way a movie has turned out. FotR was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. So much effort put into it and it still just came out as absolute shit. >_<

But I'm really devastated that they wouldn't put Denna in the proper light. -_-;

... Seriously though, I'll probably watch an ep or two this weekend from that site just cause I'll be bored and curious.

@Quest of WFR:
Oh, like I said, don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVED the book and have no problem with the formula :3 but it just lacks originality because it's way over done.
I LOVED that scene, too. XD I could just imagine their faces drop in horror to see Scarlet land before them and have an "enemy" slide off the dragon and face them.

@Brother: I actually predicted it back at the beginning of the book. The first time it started explaining, even before the exchange he had with Kahlan I was like "Yeah, this guy is going to betray Richard in some way, some day." :( It was still hard, though, reading about Richard feeling so hurt and betrayed.
@Current part I'm in the SoT:
T-T Richard and Kahlan.... broken. I absolutely wanted to cry when Kahlan forced him to put the collar on. To even use "my pet" on him. I felt the pain from both sides. Kahlan just wanting to die and the horror that must have been going through Richard.
:3 I think I particularly love this author 'cause he realizes that Richard should have been messed up from what happened to him. In most other stories, most authors would just "make him well" with only the occassional nightmare and all.

... The scene with the Sister of Dark being "raped" (well, maybe not right) by that underworld beast... that was a LOT too much for me. I felt like I was watching a bad hentai. :P I think the scene completely failed. It's the only thing I have to knock.

Honestly, though, I think the biggest selling point of the whole series is just Richard himself. He's SO innocent and kind but, like the covers portray him, I just imagine him being this rugged sorta muscular guy. ^_^ The image just doesn't fit. I just really like Richard A LOT. XD Every time I imagine him clasped in the sword's anger, I can just imagine how fuggin' scary he must be! It's just funny 'cause usually I imagine characters like this (Aragorn for example) being very effeminate in appearance. Bishoujo, you know. Richard, though, I just CAN'T picture him that way. XD
@SoT
I like that Richard had to partition his mind, and that when he originally did it, the readers didn't know that it was magic. Remember, when he puts all his dignity into place, before he starts to submit to Mistress Denna.

Mord-Sith such love. <3 <3
@TV-series
Yeeeeeah. I knew it was going to be terrible when I first heard about it. This a series that just doesn't work condensed. Take Denna, for example:
You just need that time for it to be believable that Richard would submit. Then, for him to start to develop stockholm-syndrome-esque feelings for her. Oh, and plus they have to make the trip to D'Hara. It's very important for Richard to be in D'Hara!
Also, it is ESSENTIAL that Kahlan be the last Confessor. That's the entire reason why Darken Rahl needs her alive, and why she must "touch" Richard (Verification of the truth of the Book of Counted Shadows blahblah). I don't know why the TV series has multiple other Confessors out there running around. Considering the show opened with Kahlan and her "sister" fleeing from soldiers... yeah.
So, yeah, TV shows suck XD
I would claim that I totally called Michael, but I'd already read Books 2-4 by the time I read WfR so... uh, yeah. hehehehe.
