@Mental Images of the series
I have vivid imaginings of certain aspects of the books that are very dear to me, so actually seeing them almost "ruins" it in a sense. Like with HP, I have a very clear image of Lupin that was TOTALLY RUINED by the movies. Their Lupin is NOTHING like I imagined him!
As for the Mord-Sith outfit/agiel... There is a Mord-Sith on the cover of the 4th book, so I've always imagined the outfit like it is presented there. As for the agiel, I think the TV series represents it in a fair way (except that Denna sheaths her agiel, rather than letting it simply swing from her wrist.) I imagined it more slender.
As for Richard... As he is presented on the cover of Book 2 is how I've envisioned him, mostly. I know you've mentioned you love him, but I actually don't like Richard that much. Zedd is one of my favorite characters. You haven't met my favorite character yet. (Oh, yeah, but Chase is made of all sorts of win <3)
For the looongest time I thought that it was supoposed to be Kahlan beside him on the cover of Book 2, which I thought was strange since she isn't wearing her Confessor Dress. Then I realized who it was and felt a bit stupid. Anyway, the woman on the cover isn't at all how I imagined that character. Oh, and Kahlan on book 1's cover (the orginal edition; there's a redone version with a Keith Parkinson image of when Richard and Kahlan first meet, rather than Richard atop Scarlet with Zedd and Kahlan near him, which is the cover I have. You mentioned you have the TV series cover, which I actually don't think I've seen)
Anyway, I imagine Kahlan as looking different than she is presented on the covers.

@Magic System
Oh, I love Goodkind's magic. I absolutely love the Additive/Subtractive split of magic. It's become stereotypically "Good" and "Evil" magic, but the idea that magic that creates is different from magic that destroys is very appealing. I also like pretty much everything about D'Hara. The Confessors and their power -- awesome. I love whenever Kahlan uses her power; the idea that she must always hold it back, rather than use it (thus enabling her to react within the swiftest second. A confessor is not strong otherwise, but no single person can harm them, and that the strength of a confessor's power relates to the strength of their devotion). I'm not how much of the magic system has been thoroughly explained, so I'll stop rather than spoil it.
Oh yes, and the Mord-Sith. <3 I won't say anything, because I forget how much Denna explains about Mord-Sith
Actually, when I first picked up book 2 for a while I thought that it was Kahlan and she was just wearing her "woods outfit". Last night I came onto the scene with the Young Gar (I will die a happy girl if that thing follows Richard just for the sheer fucking irony) and when I put the book down and relooked at the picture I was like "ooooooh! That's Sister Verna! ... OH! AND RICHAR'D WEARING THE COLLAR!! And that explains why he looks so "scruffy" when my image of Richard was always very clean shaven (but that might be biased influence since I HATE guys with facial hair)." So, many things clicked with that scene on the cover.
Yeah, not how I imagine her, either. AT ALL. I actually imagine her more as a Minerva McGonagal (sp? oh god, I destroyed that name) character. This woman just looks too frail and flimsy. I could probably have pictured that being Sister Margaret. Not Verna.
*is crushed* You don't like Richard?
How can we agree on every other opinion but this one, Kino!
Well... you forget, I've read the whole series. I could elaborate, but it would include spoilers you don't want to hear.
I do like him as a protagonist, especially in the first 4 books. There are some scenes in which I'm totally rooting for him and agree with all his actions.
I don't find his type especially attractive (the Rahl chin, the uber-muscle, the strong guy... I'm way more of a beta-male type girl. I love my scruffy, plaid-wearing, brainy-geek, awkward fiancé <3)
So I like Richard, but I don't like like him. I certainly don't dislike him or hate him or anything like that.
YES! XD That is the exact scene that made me realize WTF I was looking at. The sudden "OH! DUH! There's the collar!" .... except it took me for my 2nd read-through. Oops.
I don't know how I envision Sister Verna either. I didn't like her at first XD Not like the woman on the cover, that's for sure. That woman looks too "glamorous" IMO for Verna.
Oh, I get it. Yeah, Richard is not someone I would ever "go" for. :3 Didn't you read the part where I say I normally envision my characters more effeminate/bishounen but I just can't do that with Richard. Still, I totally love him as a character. He's just so "sweet" but you just definitely cannot deny that OMFG-shit-my-pants quality that he must have when he's wielding that sword. I can SO see why Kahlan falls for him and they are SO the perfect match for each other.
I dunno about "glamorous" but she looks too "frail" to me and very "innocent". Even for a Kahlan she would have struck me as being too lost in the world around her. That's why I say maybe she'd make a good Sister Margaret who just seemed very innocent and naive. Verna I can see sitting there, glaring at Richard with piercing hawk eyes, lips pursed, back straight, and her hands perfectly folded in her lap.

I got no reading in today. *sob*

My favorite book is definitely NOT Twilight. Just pointing that out.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, The Idiot, Holes, The Little Prince, and The House of the Scorpion are some of my favorites, though.
Dostoevsky's awesome, but The Brothers Karamazov requires such concentration that I haven't gone past like 40 or so pages.
Wheee.

I am currently re-reading Essay on Man written by Alexander Pope, mainly because I am going to write a paper about him, and I have chosen to write about his portrayal of man according to his 4 Epistles. I do not plan to include his Satires and the rest of his series, due to time constraints. Wish me luck.
My current game projects:
茨心 -Thornheart- (jRPG, yuri) || Heaven's Kiss: Fallen Hydrangea (Twine, yuri romance)
(#dota2) I support Team DK! 国土無双 (LaNm), you will be missed...

>__> I think that their Richard is shockingly bishi.
SHOCKINGLY.
@Rain
You never read Breaking Dawn? You're missing out on some epic shit there.
-___- I am SO GLAD that I will in NYC for the Twilight movie release and thus will be far, far away from the madness of the midnight release. The Breaking Dawn release was terrible enough. *shudders* Give me an angry, disorganized mob of HP fans anyday! (Actually, I had the best job at the book 7 release. I got to sit next to the front entrance and pass out numbered place-holder tickets. ;__; I'm sad that there will be no more HP releases; they were so fun. We got free pizza...)
Oh, ETA!
I'm agonizing over the decision of what books to bring with me for the plane. I just don't know if I want to re-read something or bring a new book.
If I brought a new book, I think I'd bring The Still and The King by David Feintuch (sp?).
If I was to re-read something, I'd possibly bring Luck in the Shadows and Stalking Darkness -- possibly even Traitor's Moon -- by Lynn Flewelling. ;__; I just can't decide!
All I know is I want some gay fantasy, and I want it to be really gay and really fantastic.
SHOCKINGLY.
