As I believe I am the only person here who has read the whole series, let me just caution you that I can't possibly recommend the whole series. The first 4 books are worth reading, and very possibly parts of 6 (even though it feels exactly like book 2 redux).
And Goodkind just starts ham-fisting political and philosophical agendas down your throat, with Richard quite literally proselytizing to the masses. It's just awful, especially shameful considering the promise of the first four books.
As for myself, I recently read:
Tangled Web - a rather ho-hum historical romp through Regency London. Not much to say, I didn't especially like it...
Scarlet and the White Wolf, books 2 and 3 - excellent. High quality fantasy with plenty of romance and action. If only all books about gay wizards could be this exquisitely crafted. Mr Kino was horrified that I started and ended Book 3 over the course of one flight, but they were precisely the sort of tale I just devour. My only complaint is that the trilogy is really just one book split into three small parts (Book 3 is the longest and it's only 280 pages) -- but that's merely a monetary concern rather than an aesthetic one. The sex scenes were a little chuckle-worthy in places -- I don't think I can ever forgive the description [hide]in which sucking the head of a cock is compared to sucking a succulent strawberry[/hide] -- but well placed within the story and certainly did not feel grotesque for all the lascivious text surrounding them.
Not sure what I'll start next. I ordered Poppy Z Brite's Drawing Blood, but I'm not really sure how much I want to read a cybergoth Haunted House story.
