Only the nobility could afford the knights' elaborate armor, and the prized warhorses to match.

Armor belonging to the Earl of Pembroke:

Heavy Cavalry units like these were a powerful force to be reckoned with. They're equatable to the modern tank which replaced them.

Foot soldiers, such as halberd and pikemen, wore simpler armor:

All with chain mail and leathers underneath.
