Too busy working to quote this properly but...
BTW, the BEST EVER feature in Windows 7 I've gotten to experience - a button that takes you IMMEDIATELY to your desktop. O_O ooooooOOOOOOOHHHH
You could do that in Vista. XP too (although that one is a bit less obvious).
<_< But, I HATE when tabs collapse on the task bar - I'd rather have all 10 of my windows labeled out instead of like having three and having to try to figure out which of those three have the window that I want - and getting pissed when I realized I chose the wrong window, but Windows 7 doesn't have a very nice looking taskbar to do this with. Not that I've tinkered much with it. But at school, it really pisses me off how they designed it.
So set it to not do that: Right-Click Taskbar -> Properties -> On Taskbar tab, set Taskbar buttons to "Never Combine.

Just looked up those apps, and I have to say that when you're like me, and have over 300,000 files on one drive you'd probably have to type most of the name, because of so much name overlap, and I could probably navigate to most files I use regularly quicker via a couple of quick mouse/keyboard strokes I have already assigned to muscle memory. If you can't tell, I'm one of the people who prefer the classic start menu. Similar thing there, you can find the item you want in those expanable lists in a second or two, whereas by the time you've clicked in the search box, typed the name, waited for it to search, then found it on the results list, or scrolled through that tiny, unexpandable list, as many as five or six seconds may have passed.
