Pidgin isn't at all the problem, it's my DSL connection.
I've called AT&T three times now about it. If the internet is working, I'll get maybe 5 minutes of use before it's unable to load websites/connect. Then it'll suddenly reconnect. Or if I unplug and re-plug the modem it'll connect... then disconnect. It's been doing this for 24 hours now. I'm not at home right now, but when I was home it just wasn't work at all.
Extremely frustrating because none of the oversees tech support people have been able to help. Last one I spoke to said that my modem was no longer under warranty and we need would need to call to get a new one. Place to call and get a new one from is closed right now. I guess I'll call tomorrow and get the pricing. I'm reluctant to get another shitty modem from them because this is the second time we've had it break.

KKINO I FUKKIN LOVE YOU MAN
Well, in the event it happens again later (with a fixed internet), that's how you solve that Pidgin error~ It's an ISP issue for that (message not being transmitted).
Hrm, I'd honestly have to see the modem (no router, I assume?) to get an idea of things. Forced reboot (unplug for 10s+) is the first suggestion, which you've done, so ... I honestly can't say much.
I will say that AT&T DSL is notoriously bad at times.
