I really hate how people put girls on a pedestal like that but in film and video games they spend most of their time in the shadow of a boring male lead. Written media like novels are a little more balanced which is kind of moot since those generally do not have a lot of character art. You could say I am tired of seeing lolis all over the place. If not little girls they are poorly dressed women with personalities to match the boring male lead they follow around. It is really not hard to write a mature adult woman.

Edit - Before someone brings up character archetypes like tsundere:
It is nothing more than clapping your hands together as if a child is taking their first steps. The characters are given a shallow premise and entirely uninteresting qualities. Of course they will be like "Oh! That adventuruous cool guy helped me and I secretly heart inside!".

One thing that really gets me is that that in most anime/manga, the female leads have these (usually) elaborate dresses/costumes while the male counterparts are wearing some bland and generic uniform or just plain pants/t-shirt.

Although, I won't lie. My favorite character in DearS was Khi. A GUY.
And Zero no Tsukaima, Hiraga Saito (wtf, it should've stayed like the light novels w/less fanservice blahblahblah).
In Saito's case, he has a (surprisingly) unique outfit compared to some other male leads that shall not be named.

But yeah, it makes me just a little angry.

Also, lolis are a little over done. Disgaea, nearly every anime w/Rie Kugimiya, ... and Touhou. can't forget mah touhous.

I don't mind that there is very little art of the men. Okay, it would be more fair, so I'm not against it or anything, but I don't really care for it either.
What does bother me is that the women are only there to be ogled and overshadowed. More properly dressed and competent adults please.

Went and made this into signature form but in the end I do not want to use it. It is a heavy file size compared to my relatively light monocrome girl and kind of wonky overall. This is the file size after I dumped half of the frames so I cannot hope to alter it without destroying the quality more than I have.

Anyone is free to take it and use it as they please.
