You'd never last around some of the more vocal fans, they can even get on MY nerves, and I love the series.

You could always give the series a go, alternatively, there's a wonderful you could read to gain some insight, that is, if you actually care that much to bother.

Touhou characters in a nutshell:

Touhou characters start with little sprites appearing on screen for 10+ minutes, with a max of 10 lines of dialogue. Then ZUN writes up a small bio about them tieing them in somehow with some Japanese mythological tale, but giving little to nothing on personality. 4channers then take these characters, create their own unique personalities for them that may or may not coincide with the games and draw whatever image comes to mind. - SUCCESSFUL TOUHOU CHARACTER CREATED!!

Honestly, Kino:
This girl's name is Utsuho Reiji. She appears in the last stage of the game Subterranean Animism. Here is her artwork as it appears in-game.

Oh and there's something about her eating a raven that somehow augmented her demonic powers from hell and gave her nuclear energy.

She also might be the most evil character in the series [hide]until you beat her[/hide]. Yes, this includes Remilia.

:3 It's whatever your little hear desires when it comes to Touhou. (Utsuho is a bitch to me because I can't beat her - so I understand the sentiment)

I guess it is a little unfair to totally base character make up on just these facts since spell cards often play a big role. If the character is nasty and likes to pummel the bullets, she is very fiery and hottempered (Rin). Or Youmu, as much as we love her and she tried to control time with her bullets and create nasty effects like Sakuya, her time slow down actually HELPED giving us the impression of her that... she's still got a little bit of practicing ahead of her before she can actually be any good to protect Yuyuko.

And of course, Marisa will always be an empty headed bitch whose only good move is her fucking MASTER SPARK. >_<

I don't want to play Touhou. I absolutely suck at those type of games.
