wet hair feels like a dead woolly thing on your head

shaking it around is the worst experience imaginable

If I ever try to shake my hair like that, I'd end up with knots in it that I wouldn't be able to get out for weeks on end. I even have to be very careful with how I towel dry it. Even worse, my scalp is so fucking sensitive. >_< I dread pulling a comb through my hair after having just washed it.

That kind of thing only works with short, straight hair that doesn't tangle. With anything else you quickly learn not to do that.
