He is worth his wages in either game. In Path of Radiance, you will want him for his talents alone, but he is not a bad combatant by any measure. In Radiant Dawn, he is just outright ridiculous, but offset by his late, late acquisition.

I always felt that in PoR there were always other units I could train and have immediate results with like Nephenee or Mia. I always got Volke, but never trained him because I felt like I had to baby him too much. I agree with you on RD though, but again there are other units I'd rather use for the tower instead of him. Why bring him along when I can use an overpowered Laguz royal? Too bad Sothe is forced in, or he'd be replaced instantly.

Then again, I haven't beaten Radiant Dawn in a while, so I can't remember how other units are compared to him.
