I would love that. :O I flip through my books like that all the time, just to read a random page or sometimes to find a passage when I can't remember any words from it but know approximately where it was in the book.

Oh, oh, that reminds me of another idea I had! What if, in addition to a page number, there was a small graphic indicating vaguely how far you are through the book?

I think some ereaders have a progress bar you can pull up.
