Hmm. Found a snail at the bottom of the fish tank. Probably came in from one of the plants I bought. o-o Well, there's a lot of algae there so hopefully it can survive off that and not get eaten by my fish.

Only one snail? Or more than one? Snails can quickly become pests in an aquarium.

Only one, unfortunately. I actually kind of wish for an infestation. After they do all of their work, there is a simple method of removal. Tie a piece of lettuce to a string, surrounded by cotton, and leave it in a tank over night or a day. In the morning it'll be swamped by all the snails for a simple removal. From there they can be kept for fish food, released or thrown out.

o_o What a handy trick! I'll have to remember that.
I've been dying to set up a giant salt-water aquarium so I can keep a sea anemone and a clown fish <3 They'd be so cute together... I'd also love to have sea horses but they're supposedly UBERFRAGILE and I'd be terrified to kill such a wonderful creature just for my own selfish desire to own one.

I got new fishies from my cousin and they be BALLIN'

Really. With both the nature of the gold barbs and the fact they still have no idea where they are, all they do is chillax under the plants.
I also got neon tetras or wtf/e they are, but those are MUCH harder to snap since they move at like 2365656253 MPH

All in all my betta now shares a tank with four gold barbs and five neon tetras! There's the snail, too. Now all I want is more live plants and a cave. A bigger castle would be cool, too.

Nope. The betta just puffs up to show them who's boss and they run away. Since the largest most territorial fish is much slower than the others, and alone in numbers, there won't be any conflict. The neon tetras are very playful and the barbs just like to stay within their secret hideout. Funny thing though is I've seen the neons go after the snail, failing horribly each time. Dang thing is too clever for them!

If I ever had a fish, I'd want it to be something that kills with teeth

They don't look like neon tetras to me. Their blue/red colors are very distinctive. And I don't remember them being super fast. I mean, they can be, when spooked by some other fish, but usually they're quite mellow.
(about 1.5cm long × 0.5cm tall, so they're really small fish)
