Oh no... ;-;

So I saw a fish in my tank earlier this morning poking his head outside of the castle. I thought it looked really cute. I came back about an hour later and he's still like that, so I figure it just found a nice hiding spot or it was sleeping. And I check now, hours later, and he was still there. Very discoloured. I then tap the class to see him swim wildly but not go anywhere. The fish was stuck! ;-; The worst part is the safest way to free him was having my eldest brother shove it out from the front. That was so terrible to watch. After that he kind of drifted a bit but he's already back to swimming around with the others... Though still discoloured. ;-;

Uh oh. Floating fish usually don't do very well. I hope it survives, Elyse.

I did everything I could. I have a feeling that freeing him did more damage than anything, but he would have died much slower as he was unable to eat, suffered under high stress and lacked circulation. That and the other fishes were attacking him while he was helpless so at least this way he went out peacefully.

I think the fact such a small error could cause the death of something bothers me more than the death itself.

I wonder how it got stuck though.

Probably because when he was swimming in panic to try to get out, he only making it worse. When fish get caught in a net or something, at least fabric is loose and the net can be cut to be replaced later. The castle was a very hard material and it would be impossible to break it without causing more damage. ;-;
