Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry
-Wikipedia

The only reason why it’s classified as a vegetable is so that they could get their greedy hands on even more money through tax. THAT'S THE TRUE STORY
Time flies like an arrow.
Fruit flies like a banana!

In 1887, U.S. tariff laws that imposed a duty on vegetables but not on fruits caused the tomato's status to become a matter of legal importance. The U.S. Supreme Court settled the controversy on May 10, 1893 by declaring that the tomato is a vegetable, based on the popular definition that classifies vegetables by use, that they are generally served with dinner and not dessert (Nix v. Hedden (149 U.S. 304)

So, yes.

Poor tomato.

Interesting! Largest tomato ever grown was from Oklahoma. YAY.

So you Americans can go calling the fruit a vegatable! Leave the rest of the world out of it. >:/

Squash and eggplant are also botanical fruits that are confused for vegetables.

Americans have no culinary background. All our most iconic foods are European exports that we've corrupted into greasy monstrosities (hotdogs, burgers, pizza).

Except Soul Food. That's pretty unique, but most things from Southern Culture are... and that's because we imported a bunch of Africans and stuck them into relative cultural isolation.

Now I'm hungry and wanting me some fried chicken and biscuits. With lots o' gravy.
