I thought everywhere there was laws against public intoxication? Some states are just more stringent than others - particularly for St.Patty's day.

Well, you cannot be drunk and disorderly in public, but to actually DRINK in public may not be a crime.
Technically, if you are drunk and in public in my town, it is illegal. They won't detain you unless you're causing trouble of they're just being assholes about it. You cannot walk down the street drinking a beer, or consume alcohol in any public space (like I said, this includes your porch since it is viewable from the sidewalk, which is public property)
So, in NYC you can drink a bottle of wine in the park, or bring a bottle of wine with you into certain restaurants, or drink beer while walking down the street. In Oklahoma, you can only purchase and consume alcohol in restaurants that have a liquor license. You cannot drink in parks, you cannot drink while in the street. You can only drink inside bars, inside places with a liquor license, etc.
Now, if you're dead-drunk puking everywhere, screaming at cars, etc etc then, yes, they may get you for public intox. But the actual act of drinking in public is not illegal here, whereas in Oklahoma there are VERY strict laws. Also, liquor stores here can be open past 9pm, oh, and they don't have 3.2 beer and other blue-collar drinking laws like we do.

I'd have murdered people in Okalahoma, based on your description of it. We recently (not even 5 years ago) had the "No Open Containers" law/ordinance passed that meant we couldn't drink out and about the strip of bars ("Northgate"). We can drink outside of the bars assuming the bar has a patio but not off the actual premise. I can't drink in public either but I also do still live on-campus so ... ... ... yeah. Drinking on the front porch of one's home is allowed though.
Public Intoxication here varies; on Northgate or near a bar, you can be stumbling and falling over and cops won't care outside of "get home" or "who's your designated driver?" kind of deal. Do that on-campus, however, and cops get a little more agitated ... which is dumb since I'm over 21 and the bush was honestly asking for me to ... well, nevermind.
ps, 13 beers after 5 hours? Pansy. Just saying.

Despite all the drinking I do ... I really don't get "OMG WASTED" drunk that often. I hold my booze like a champ >>.
...which is unfortunate as going out and drinking is very expensive. Well, not "very" but definitely >$30 a night if I were to to drink on normal nights to get "I think fighting a cop is BRILLIANT" drunk.
Okay, $30 is a lot but not so much when like ... a double bourbon and coke is like $5 or something. $2 on Thrusdays, though, which is AWESOME.
In other news, we recently (well, a month ago) had a "No Smoking in Bars" ordinance passed so I'm finally getting around to non-smoke tobacco >>. Camel Snus (pouches) aren't bad for $5 a container (15 pouches). Cleaner then dip / chew at least. </random>
<-- sad that he can't smoke his pipe in bars anymore T.T

Another night of Bingo. <3
I swear, seniors are entirely unbeatable. They not only destroy me and the other girls I play with but they are so PRO. I've seen them wear belts to hold Bingo Dabbers! That's hardcore! That and I must really suck because I play every card at the maximum size for every week I've shown up and I haven't come CLOSE to winning. The other girls I play with a pretty serious (compared to me) but they lack the smelly senior-ness to win! Though they definitely win the award of being the most annoying players.
"B4."
"BEFORE WHAT? HAHAHAHAHA!"

*mutters* I hate regular forum communities. There are just so FEW (like my own) that I can truly stand. Try to get this one community to talk to me and start a good conversation on a game and to share their knowledge with me and its like pulling fucking teeth.
Me: "kewl I don't remember anything about that, where'd you learn that info?"
Them: "It was in x-game."
Me: *thinks of way to prod more info: "Oh, I haven't played that game in the series, can you share more info."
Them: "There's x-item."
Me: ...... .... ..... I get more of a response from my cat.
And it's a suffering community even. It's just like HELLLOOOOOO do you want members or not? Yeah, well, YOU GOTTA TALK TO THEM! >_<

Avoid webcomic communities. You'll get TOO MUCH info and they'll make pages and pages of posts criticizing a character's battle stance. The worst is when they say things like "I have a degree in blah blah blah" to support their argument when it doesn't matter since it's a FICTIONAL WEBCOMIC WITH A TALKING FREAKING CAT! >:/ Get over it.
